Default Who or what is the Baha'i Faith about?

I've heard they are a cult and mix different religions up to make their own faith. How can a religion accept Jesus, Mohammed and others etc...They also say that they want education for all, equal rights for men and women etc. Are they a cult or a true religion?

Baha'i is an Abrahamic religion, offering a pancreatic version of the three major faiths. It's an interesting philosophical code; you should read some of the literature rather than going after opinions. Horses mouth and stuff.

The Bahais believe only in the teachings of the "current" prophet (manifestation of God) Bahaullah and his predecessor the Bab. Jesus, Muhammad etc. were prophets as well, but were meant for a different place and time. Therefore, they believe that, while Jesus was a prophet, his teachings are outdated.

They are very for equality, education, world unification etc. But as they are a religious group, they work toward this with the goal of spreading their religion in mind. The only group who is not as accept[ted as the others are gays, as the Bahai scriptures outlaw homosexuality.

Unfiortunately, there are many, many holy books in Bahai Faith and not are all translated. So you will have to either learn Persian or Arabic or both, or go off of other people's word when it comes to a lot of things.

The second is the official Bahia website and may be biased

The last one is somewhat anti-bahai and is biased too. I put these here so you Can get both sides of the arguement.

There is antoher really good site about a Christian who converted to Bahai and his personal experience. I couldn't find it though.

The Bah?'? Faith is the religion founded by Bah?'u'll?h in 19Th century Persia. There are around six million Bah?'?s in more than 200 countries around the world.[1][2]

According to Bah?'? teachings, religious history is seen as an evolving educational process for mankind, through God's messengers, which are termed Manifestations of God. Bah?'u'll?h is seen as the most recent, pivotal, but not final of these individuals. He claimed to be the expected redeemer and teacher prophesied in Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and other religions and that his mission was to establish a firm basis for unity throughout the world, and inaugurate an age of peace and justice, which Bah?'?s expect will inevitably arise.[3]

"Bah?'?" (/Baha'i/) can be an adjective referring to the Bah?'? Faith, or the term for a follower of Bah?'u'll?h (Bah?'? is not a noun meaning the religion as a whole). The term comes from the Arabic word Bah?? (????), meaning "glory" or "splendour".

The Bah?'? Faith is the most recent and second-most widespread of the world's independent religions. Bah?'?s follow the teachings of Bah?'u'll?h, Who claimed to be the Promised One of all religions and the Manifestation of God for this day and age. Bah?'u'll?h taught that God is one, humanity is one and that religion is likewise one. Religion is seen not as a number of different belief systems, defined by exclusive dogmas and rituals. Rather, religion is regarded as being a process of "progressive revelation", whereby God gradually reveals His Will to humankind. Bah?'u'll?h declared that humanity is approaching its collective maturity, which will result in the formation of a new world civilization.

The Baha'i faith is a new world independent (true) religion. We believe in peace, unity and how do you obtain peace and unity....by accepting other Prophets and religions also by equality for all, etc.
I am a Baha'i.
