Default Wiccans, Muslims, Baha'is, Jews, Christians.. please answer me?

If someone is sent far into outer space, on another planet or simply in a space ship:

Wiccans, how will you perform your rituals with Luna (our moon) not being there?
Muslims, how would you face the Qiblah (since Earth with Mecca in it will be in the night sky)?
Muslims, how would you feast or pray (long days, long nights... that also goes for the Earthly North pole... how does Ramadan go out there?)
Baha'is how will you face Akka?
Jews, how will you face Jerusalem?
Christians, how will you build your churches that are supposed to face the sun?
sorry I mean they usually face the East! the direction of sunrise

The moon has nothing to do with my rituals. I would continue to worship and believe as normal.

As for the Sabbats, if I was on a spaceship I would associate them with their traditional calendar days. if I was on another planet, I would adjust them according to the local climate.

I imagine people who need to face a certain direction will simply face Earth.

Building churches with the apse in the east is a tradition but not a requirement. St. Peter's in Rome faces west, for example.

Christians dint build churches to face the sun. Where did you get that? Anyway, it doesn't matter. Pray anywhere and fellowship anywhere.

In answer to the Muslim questions:
We can face in any direction to the Kabba in such instances. Say for example, while travel ling on a plane, it does not matter which direction you face when you pray.

As for the fasting part, either fast in long days, or leave that country. This is why we don't have Muslim astronauts in Ramadan and this is why there are no Muslims in Siberia and in the North & South Poles.

The closest planet that can sustain life is light years away. So it will never happen. We will go through Armageddon before anything like that happens. The bible is truth and in the book of Revelation it never says people are on other planets. Do you know why God placed them so far away. Because no sensible person would ever think we could colonize other planets.

Who told you that?

Also, if churches were to be built facing the sun, I think if the human race was to develop a world for people to live on, it would be relatively like earth with a new sun...

And what will you do, away from your home planet? Won't you shrivel up and die?

Well, in Ramadan we have a timetable of when fasting begins and ends, and we'd just keep the timer on that as if in our home country. So say fasting was from 5am until 7pm, we'd simply take a watch with us, and observe it by that watch as if on earth, and this should be OK.

Facing Qiblah would be a problem, i think the best you could do is face the earth, as the location of the Qiblah.

Churches are supposed to face the sun? That is illogical. The sun is in different positions throughout the day. Secondly, Christians are the church. I do not need a physical construct

As a christian i believe that WE are the church. I don't need a building to praise God.

Good question! As a Wiccan, if I were on another planet, I would adjust the timing of Sabbaths to whatever the seasons on that planet were, and have es bats in conjunction with the moonrise of whatever moon(s) they have. On a spaceship would be a little trickier, especially if using a method of space travel which involved significant time dilation. I suppose the best way would be to note the date and phase of the moon at the time one left Earth, then synchronize that to ship's time, then adjust to the seasons etc. on arriving at the destination.

Wiccan.

I don't need the moon to work. The whole universe is sacred, because it's all connected.
The Goddess and The God are what I call the creative and destructive forces that are eternal and unknown in the Universe.

I'm not quite so daft as to worship and inanimate object.

I'd face Jerusalem by facing Earth. But far more important is calculating Shabbat. The passage of time would be relative to my speed.

What has being off in space got to do with our spiritual walk? Yah is everywhere, He created everything there is, that includes outer space. It has nothing to do with church buildings and nothing to do with facing east. Facing east is just a man made tradition, it has nothing to do with spiritual beliefs.

I have never, ever heard that it was necessary for a Christian church to face the sun. Given any strange environment, we would quite simply adapt.

I'd wait until the world turned so Israel was in view, then I'd get my prayerbook and say the she ma.

The positions of the sun and moon don't matter to me now and they wouldn't matter to me then.

The moon is a mere symbol, and not a necessity for ritualistic practices. So long as the belief is in ones heart, rituals may still be performed. Symbols, tools, books, other miscellaneous items are not required for practice, but are mere focus tools, used to aid the practitioner in practice. Ritualistic performance can be done with nothing but the practitioner to complete success.

Directions are not crucial.
And if such conditions appear, then religious duties are also not there.

i would call upon the resident spirits of the place. if that's a spaceship, then so be it; all things are equal in divinity. i may honor the sun and moon on earth for the influences they have, but in space, i might honor atmosphere and gravity. the outer workings are completely unimportant, anyway.

for the Christians who don't know their history: churches did indeed used to be built with the altar in the east, because this was the practice in many pagan temples. before artificial light, temple builders used the orientation of the temple to inspire awe by controlling opening size and placement and calculating the angle of light. Christians used the same techniques Thur-out the middle ages to dazzle the ignorant masses.

of course, on a spaceship, you simply move the temple to the correct relationship with the nearest star.

Good question. How will one worship God without worldy rituals? How's it done?
