I had a patient that was Baha'i and he explained to me a bit about it.

He said that humanity's relationship with God is constantly evolving, with new truths being revealed with a series of prophets. Jesus being one, Muhammad being another. I can't remember the entire list. But as humanity matures, it becomes ready to receive another Truth.

There are so many truths yet to be revealed and the next one is supposed to be reincarnation.

He was also very anti-Islamic (even with Muhammad being one of the prophets. Couldn't figure that one out.)

Anyway, that's all I know that was from a self-professed member of the Baha'i faith.

The Bah?'? Faith arose from Islam in the 1800s based on the teachings of Baha'u'llah and is now a distinct worldwide faith. The faith's followers believe that God has sent nine great prophets to mankind through whom the Holy Spirit has revealed the "Word of God." This has given rise to the major world religions. Although these religions arose from the teachings of the prophets of one God, Bah?'?'s do not believe they are all the same. The differences in the teachings of each prophet are due to the needs of the society they came to help and what mankind was ready to have revealed to it. Bah?'? beliefs promote gender and race equality, freedom of expression and assembly, world peace and world government. They believe that a single world government led by Bah?'?s will be established at some point in the future. The faith does not attempt to preserve the past but does embrace the findings of science. Bah?'?s believe that every person has an immortal soul which can not die but is freed to travel through the spirit world after death.

I became a Baha'i about 3 years ago. I love my new found faith and it really did find me. Here is the basics;

The Bah?'? Faith is the youngest of the world's independent religions. Its founder, Bah?'u'll?h (1817-1892), is regarded by Bah?'?s as the most recent in the line of Messengers of God that stretches back beyond recorded time and that includes Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Krishna, Zoroaster, Christ and Muhammad.

The central theme of Bah?'u'll?h's message is that humanity is one single race and that the day has come for its unification in one global society. God, Bah?'u'll?h said, has set in motion historical forces that are breaking down traditional barriers of race, class, creed, and nation and that will, in time, give birth to a universal civilization. The principal challenge facing the peoples of the earth is to accept the fact of their oneness and to assist the processes of unification.

One of the purposes of the Bah?'? Faith is to help make this possible. A worldwide community of some five million Bah?'?s, representative of most of the nations, races and cultures on earth, is working to give Bah?'u'll?h's teachings practical effect. Their experience will be a source of encouragement to all who share their vision of humanity as one global family and the earth as one homeland.

Bah?'u'll?h taught that there is one God whose successive revelations of His will to humanity have been the chief civilizing force in history. The agents of this process have been the Divine Messengers whom people have seen chiefly as the founders of separate religious systems but whose common purpose has been to bring the human race to spiritual and moral maturity.

Humanity is now coming of age. It is this that makes possible the unification of the human family and the building of a peaceful, global society. Among the principles which the Bah?'? Faith promotes as vital to the achievement of this goal are

The abandonment of all forms of prejudice
Assurance to women of full equality of opportunity with men
Recognition of the unity and relativity of religious truth
The elimination of extremes of poverty and wealth
The realization of universal education
The responsibility of each person to independently search for truth
The establishment of a global commonwealth of nations
Recognition that true religion is in harmony with reason and the pursuit of scientific knowledge

I hope this helps. Also e-mail me if you have questions.

Hi, i am a Baha'i, I'm Reading some books now from the Baha'i faith and Dion Ruhi, but here is a brief summary what the Baha'i faith contains.
It is a new world independent religion, founded by Baha'u'llah in 1863. We believe in all the Manifestations of God, Unity in Diversity, peace on earth, equality between man and women, and some more principles .
