In the Kalama Sutra, Buddha says.
Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it..
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.
I prefer to tell you what I think about all of them in a single word - interesting.
However, 'isms' are far less interesting than the people who gave rise to them in the first place. Study the founding leaders, compare them, and then you will have a platform on which to build conclusions. I suggest that the person, Jesus of Nazareth, dwarfs all the other men. Oh, and let's not forget that atheism was never founded on any person. It comes direct from the Satanic Stables and his front-runner.
What an interesting question. Well I myself am none of the above but my friends are. I think all religions have good and bad points and a person's religion does not affect how I think of them as friends.
Anyway:
-Christianity - historically I dislike it very much as it has been used to justify so much atrocities - Dick Gaughan's song Stand Up For Judas is really good about this topic, how basically it caused divisions among people (I won't post the lyrics here it would be too long but is really interesting) though in theory it's ideals are good it has just been too institutionalized over time.
-Islam - two of my best friends are of this religion; I really like a lot of their principles like giving a certain % of $ to charities, and how they do not eat pork, no alcohol etc.
-Atheism - I like but am not one myself as I do believe in ghosts etc. as I like to be open minded.
-Hinduism - I do not know much about but I think the concept seems really neat I like how it is about peace and kindness.
-Buddhism - A relative converted to it lately so he told me a lot about it - I like some aspects like the focus on self improvement but do not agree with the need to detach from this world IE detachment from people and loved ones I could never do that.
-Baha'i - my friend is that ; she tried to covert me many times.. I don't know how I feel about it it seems somewhat restrictive though I admire how they do not drink alcohol etc.
As I say, there are good and bad things about each religion, and I love learning about them (from a secular perspective) and I am very open minded and friends with so many different religions.
Christianity - faith in god
Islam - faith in Allah (God by any other name, is still god!)
atheism - They have faith that no god exists, and that we are just an accident! (At least they have faith that we do exist accident or not!)
Hinduism - A very old and complex religion, again faith in god, in fact there is a god for everyday, everything in universe. Actually there is only one god, he just spreads himself out, and answers to any
name he and she has been given!
Buddhism - faith in god - and the right path to follow.
Baha'i faith - Faith in god - no matter what race, religion or culture he/she belongs to, can go and pray to that particular god, in silence and won't be persecuted for it.
Did you notice one thing in common with all of them? FAITH, I just wish it would bring all the people in the world together learn from each others differences, and respect their beliefs. For in the end we all believe in GOD, AND HE/SHE IS BEYOND ANYONE'S UNDERSTANDING.
