Default Are people of the Baha'i Faith against Homosexuality?

I'm doing a research paper, and I was curious to find out.

Thanks!

Here is some information for you. good luck on your paper.

The Baha'i Faith teaches beliefs about homosexuality that are quite similar to those of many conservative religions. They teach that:

The only acceptable form of sexual expression is between a one man and one woman after marriage.
Homosexual feelings and behavior are improper, and in opposition to God's plan for humanity.
Homosexuality as a disability for the individual to overcome. Through prayer, medical treatment, counseling, and much personal effort, they believe that a homosexual can become "straight."
Unless gays or lesbians can convert their sexual orientation to bisexuality or heterosexuality, and enter a marriage with a person of the opposite gender, they are expected to remain celibate.

The Baha'i faith has traditionally valued and accepted the findings of science. Their beliefs about to sexual orientation appear to be an exception to this policy. The major medical and mental health professional associations have issued statements declaring sexual orientation to be normal, natural, and unchangeable (or essentially so) in adults.

The Baha'i Faith teaches that the only acceptable form of sexual expression is within marriage, and Bah?'? marriage is defined in the religion's texts as exclusively between one man and one woman. Bahia's stress the importance of absolute chastity for any unmarried person, and focus on personal restraint.

But to the credit of the Baha'i they don't exert effort toward legislating their belief on other people. Believe what you want but stay out of my legal system.

Mrs. Fountain's information is excellent.
From my personal experience as the child of two Baha'i parents, I can tell you that many Baha'is view homosexuality as something along the lines of a mental disorder. They don't hate homosexuals, or believe they're going to hell, or any of that; they don't treat homosexuals any differently from anyone else, except in regard to sexual activity and marriage.

It is one of the things that I always found very odd about the Baha'i Faith, and one of the reasons I could never bring myself to fully support it.

Baha'i is the religion that basically says "can't we all just get along?" they like to pick and choose and say, "well you guys have this nice thing about your religion and you have your little b so I'm gonna go over here." It's the Ala cart religion. the real commitment Phoebe religion. However the thing about religion is that involves God and salvation. You have to have One God and you have to have One way Ito heaven and you Harv to Au all the other religions are wrong which is what makes the baha'i so wonky. oddly enough due to the massive amount of touchy feely types out there it has surged in popularity int he states despite its orgins in india. I actually have a baha'i friend. She's a great gal but I just cant' believe in her beliefs.

I thought you'd like a citation for Mrs. Fountain's post, so you could use it in your paper's bibliography. (I've read it before so I recognized it) It's
