In my opinion, it's because 100 years before any of these concepts were popular, the Baha'i Faith was actively advocating social and religious ideas such as (but not limited to):
+ Equality of men and women
+ Elimination of racial and ethnic prejudice
+ A universal secondary language (which is what English has become)
+ Harmony of science and religion
+ That man is born noble, not into sin
+ Intrinsic value of children
+ The importance of education, especially of children
+ Religious tolerance and harmonious co-existence
+ A loving, forgiving God who does not condemn mankind to Hell by default
+ Arts and hard work are acts of worship
+ Partisan politics are divisive and dangerous
In 2008 many of these teachings seem "natural", such as gender and racial equality, but even 40 years ago such ideas were considered radical and threatening to the fabric of society. Baha'is have known these concepts to be valid and natural for nearly 150 years. To Baha'is, the rest of the world is just now catching up--it's coming "into tune" with the Baha'i Faith, not the other way around!
