Default Is there a lot of similarity in the Sikh and Baha'i faith?

I noticed while researching that a lot of converts to Sikhism are from the Baha'i faith. Do you think this is because they are quite similar in there intentions and message.

Well, they are both part Abrahamic, & part Dharmic at the same time.

Do Baha'i faith folk wear turbans ? Actually there should be very little similarity between the Baha'i and Sikhs. The Sikhs have a different reason for being. They extended the boundary of the Muslim to have it bigger than the Israelites were allocated. The Baha'i were how the U.N. were supposed to be. Good thing Christ is due back soon. We can then all get a good nights sleep.

Yes, both are very similar but there are dissimilarities too. They both are modern and go well with science. Both of them share the same views regarding ladies. Both these religions suffered a lot from the hands of others. I used to teach in a university and Bahai students were very respectful towards me. This lead me to visit Bahai temple and read about them. Bahais are quite nice people.

There is a lot of similarity in the main thrust of belief - equality / one God

The real difference comes in the view of the world around us

Whilst both religions see this life as an opportunity to help others and make the world a better place, Baha'i look to create a "paradise" on earth to some extent, the Sikhs want this to be a better world but understand that life is an illusion - a passing from this form to the next and our actions in this life will determine whether we ascend to God or return to an Earthly existence

Sikhs see ALL life as equal reflecting their growth from the Hindu community and so shouldn't eat meat or harm other life-forms, whereas Baha'i view humans as special - reflecting their Islam/Christianity background

Sikhs believe in reincarnation, Baha'i don't

Another difference is the level of "rules" in each religion. Sikhism is a very simple religion and has a very limited set of rules - Love God and do everything with God in Mind, Baha'i reflect their roots by having a more ceremonial view of life

Politically there is also a difference, Sikhs have always been encouraged to be involved in politics and the earthly management of the world whereas Baha'i eschew such politics, conversely Baha'i have a much more formal organization with a central structure, whereas Sikhs have always been very anarchist so there are sects of Sikhism whereas there are none in Baha'i. However the Sikh religion is 400 years older so this could change for the Baha'i

So the real difference comes down to what is required spiritually between Sikhs and Baha'i. Sikhs must remember the name of God, its our purpose in life to understand and become the name of God, i.e. the ultimate truth, so Sikhs seek truth by trying to establish a direct communion with God (the only truth), whereas Baha'i see the spiritual journey is a matter of finding the truth of existence and this translates into a more perfect soul and hence oneness with God

So whilst many things are the same Sikhs and Baha'i follow different paths to God. Sikhs do not believe any good works bring them closer to God, they are merely an outwardly representation of Gods truth and therefore have no value to God so being God is simply what you should do not better than what you are, Baha'i see works in this life as a path to God and good works bring you closer to God - I hope that makes sense

The real difference between Sikhs and Baha'i and all other religions is the focus on equality between Men and Women, they believe that Men and Women are equal e.g. Sikhs have women priests etc.
