Default Would I be correct in my thinking process, if I believe Buddhism is more about self-

Buddha is not worshiped as a deity...instead his teachings are honored because he was wise.

It's a journey to enlightenment--the Buddha simply gave us teachings on how to do it. Enlightenment, in a very base and awkwardly-explained way, is basically the realization that all things are connected, and your grandmother is no more or less important than the spider in your bathtub. I'd call it everything-empowerment.

Yes that is pretty much it. Buddha was an enlightened man. We too can become enlightened.

love shepherd is correct. There are 'White' Buddhists and then there are Asian Buddhists. Two different things.

In the United States, that is the aspect of Buddhism that attracts young Americans. The Buddha may not be worshiped, but in most places in the world, he and the others who have reached enlightenment are appealed to to help in daily life regarding everything from getting good grades on a test to ensuring that you loved-ones next rebirth will be a good one.

If it's true it's self-empowerment.
If it's false, it's self-deception.

Icarus must have been a Buddhist.
