To take advantage of the wisdom that Buddha left behind. He taught that desires and emotions only led to pain and when we realize that we are a part of everything in the universe, we are enlightened and rise above all desiring and negativity.

To get puffed up on vain feelings and things that aren't true.

achieve nirvana and leave Samara, which is the cycle of birth and rebirth in which people suffer again and again in many lives.
people who associate Buddhism with brainwashing are Dumbo*cks who don't even know what Buddhism is about, the Buddha himself, asked his students to examine his teachings with their own minds and not take them as true unless they verify them for themselves. he also asked his students not to get angry when someone says anything bad about him, the sang ha(their school), or their lifestyle, because anger messes up their judgment, so Buddhism is really in no way a cult.

Well here is a really simple guess, Buddha means "the enlightened one" so using logic I would assume the purpose of Buddhism is to attain enlightenment.

Buddhism has no purpose; just followers who thought Buddha has good visions...Nothing more, nothing less...

Buddhism is the only religion that makes any sense! They believe things we all believe---that we're all a special part of the universe and we all share the same energy, that our energy continues after we die, that ignoring the physical world and focusing on our mental is the path to true wisdom. Ignore the ego and listen to the spirit. It will free your mind and bring you peace.

The purpose of Buddhism is to re frame how you approach life. This stops suffering.
The techniques are very similar to the same techniques used in cognitive-behavioral therapy.
Imagine that.
Both work, but because Buddhism has a more-comprehensive program, it works more effectively.

To hopefully live out and be an example of the teachings of Buddha who taught that separation was and is an illusion. We are all connected and my actions affect you and vice verse, once understanding or this knowledge is obtained, the practitioner could become enlightened or fully opened in mind, soul, body and spirit.

The purpose of the teachings of Buddhism is to help people who practice it reach enlightenment by helping them breaking and ending the cycle of suffering.
