Default Why In INDIA UNTOUCHABLES CHOOSE BUDDHISM OVER CHRISTIANITY?

in India Buddhism is the fastest growing religion,India used to be a Buddhist majority until 5Th century as it is the home of Buddhism.Majority of untouchable people choose Buddhism over any other religion.The population of Christians has declined from 2.8% in 1947 to 2.2% in 2001,the population of Buddhist has increased from 0.01% in 1947 to 1% in 2001.Yahoooooo!!!!India will return to it's former glory!
@i love Allah---> any religion can claim to be fastest growing of they profess their followers to produce 10 kids per family, Indian Muslims have high birth rate just like any other Muslim
@TAZ

what are you talking of?????????????Every year during ambedkar jayanti 3 million people convert to Buddhism,your 7000 converts to Christianity is peanuts in comparison

Probably because there is less social ostracizing in Buddhism than in Christianity there...?

The cast system was eliminated in India in the 1950's. Try and catch up!

Would you want to stay in a religion that basically tells you you're a piece of shit because of who your parents happen to be?

As for Christianity, it's still foreign to India. It's not an obvious choice.

India never lost its glory. Its people have carried it through some difficult political times but it has always been a wealthy, diverse, and fascinating land drawing its strength from its many cultures. It is now the world's largest democracy and the world's fastest-growing economy.

As for the popularity of Buddhism, it's hard to say exactly why -- nationalism may be a part, as you suggest, and the profound DE-emphasis of material culture may well appeal to those who are socially and economically disadvantaged in a way that Christianity (at least in its modern articulation) cannot.

You may also be interested in exploring some of the common threads of thought between Buddhism and early Christianity. It seems likely to me that Jesus heard and was influenced by teachings of the Buddha.

Abhishek, I live in India, I have seen personally, more than 7000 people accepting Christianity, in the last 11 years, whereas the conversion to Buddhism that I have seen is less than 100.

I can show you hundred thousands of those who have accepted Christianity, can you show me a thousand?

If only 1% is Buddhist, do the math. The "untouchables" continue to choose Hindu, NOT Buddhism.

There is ONLY one PROVEN place in Heaven and that is the invisible and eternal Kingdom of Christ and it you are in the United States, this Heavenly Kingdom is to the east of our Republican wing. And that too is provable because unlike all other earthly nations, this one was birthed out of the churches of our Founding Fathers. Thus the American people descend from the womb and on this side of the cross that leads DIRECTLY into the eternal Kingdom of Christ in Heaven. Now I am positive you have an "inner most being" as does everyone and it is this already eternal inner being that is created in the image and likeness of the Living God, thus he comes from the invisible Kingdom of Christ and the NUMBER ONE REASON, Jesus came down to earth where you are stuck and He said clearly, that, "My Kingdom is NOT of this world." That said, I don't care what "faith" you or anyone else professes as your faith will NEVER get you up and into the Heavenly nation of Christ unless you are born again of the Holy Spirit as it is the Spirit that bridges the gap between the natural realm and the supernatural Kingdom in Heaven. Having said that, you have a choice. You can live naturally on earth with a faith that can never get you up and into the Heavenly Kingdom or you can surrender your vain life in the flesh and allow the Holy Spirit to work within your heart and supernaturally lead you up to the Kingdom as there is NO other way. And NO IA am not a Christian but I am born again of the Spirit and where as Christian will invite you to a local church I will invite you to enter the Kingdom by CHOICE. If you refuse as do so many, they you prove you are of no value and can NOT come back down to earth to shed light on the only god given nation that matters. No one of any faith, turns their back on the Holy Spirit while on earth and then can expect and hope to enter the Heavenly Kingdom such is the darkness in the earthly realm because it is truly under the control of Lucifer's Kingdom and he rules over all flesh. The world need light from the Kingdom of Christ and not stats on which earthly faith is growing the fastest and lead nice people to hell all because they have no light from the supernatural realm.
