Tibetan Buddhist is a kind of Mahayana. It's like asking about the "difference between Catholicism and Christianity" - only sectarian or ignorant people ask that kind of questions. That is, if you want to compare two different things, they first have to be different, and second defined.
For example, you can ask about the difference between Tibetan Buddhism (or a specific tradition within Tibetan Buddhism) and for instance Chinese Pure Land Buddhism or Japanese Zen Buddhism, just like you might want to compare Roman Catholicism with Greek Orthodox, Pentecostal or Lutheran Christianity.
