Kim doesn't understand that the Buddha is not God, nor even "a" god. The Buddha (an honorific title) is a teacher.
There is really only one way to learn, and that is to take classes. And the only good teacher is one who is a monk or nun (although that, by itself, does not make them a good teacher ... but it does guarantee that they know what they are talking about ... you can kind find some really Miss-informed laypeople teaching Buddhism).
Fortunately, Buddhists will not try to convert you. And you don't have to know what to ask. If you attend classes, you will be presented with information. If you get to speak to a monk, most likely, they will refer you to someplace where you can take lessons ... but if not, all you need to say is, "II am clueless about Buddhism, but I would like to learn). You do not need to talk, or even to ask ... just listen.
Anxious or not ... this is what you need to do. While no one can enlighten you, it is very very difficult to get very far on your own.
