I don't think it insults the faith. I do think it opens the eyes of Christians to other possibilities and ideas which were stripped from the bible by kings, scholars of their time.
Everyone is free to say whatever he likes, but if someone decides to say that the sun rises from the West, people will think he is crazy.
You Cannon give an opinion to a postulate or a well known historical event, or try to change it.
The movie is an insult but Christianity will never be affected.
I don't think it's an insult, but just a good piece of fiction. I'm affected by it just as much as I'm affected by a Harry Potter book: it's fiction, and has no truth in the real world. But it is a good story.
Why would the Da Vinci Code insult Christianity? The movie is not based on historical facts but rather on some author's interpretations of a bunch of ideas. The same can be done with a bunch of texts if you ask me, because in the end we all make anything into whatever it is that we want. Those who hate Christians see "the Da Vinci Code" as Wow-yeah..it's true, everything there is true--sooner or later they'll be calling Dan Brown a prophet and Ron Howard some kind of angel heehaw But in the end...nah, the Da Vinci Code is to Christians what the Movie The Ten Commandments is to the Egyptians...
yes it does it says that the christian faith is a lie it offends all Christians firsts off it says that Jesus is not the son of god second it says that the church change the hole bible and last it says he was married if he was the bible would say so the christian faith beliefs that Jesus is the son of god that he came to die for the sin of the world if this book were about Islam Judaism they would of say its fiction but because its Christianity its OK this book is base upon religion called Gnostic's they believed that Jesus was a holy spirit that was stuck in evil body they also believed that there was to god the god of the old testament and new testament if you want the truth read the bible please forgive me if i wrote to much thank you for letting me answers this question god bless you
It is an insult to Christianity and to history, and whatever other disciplines it touches. But if Dan Brown says that it is fact, I suppose it must be...
It is based upon the ideas in Gnostic Christianity, which date from the second and third century, probably at least a century after the Biblical books were widely circulated. Gnostics believe that matter is inherently evil, and so they rewrote the gospels to erase all of the ideas that are positive towards the physical, or that suggest Jesus died etc.
To suggest that these Gnostic books should have been included in the Bible as 'reasonable alternatives' is simply ridiculous.
It is FICTION....it may be the straw that breaks the devils back....hopefully it will get people in the Bible to read for themselves.
I have not read it, my SIL did and says it can be convincing to those who do not know the truth...the BIBLE is the truth.
We had Q and A at our Church about it...only place the truth is told is on page 232. Historians and educators agree that the facts found in this section are undeniably true. Sadly, the truth found in these few paragraphs is much more damaging to the Church than the entire Code book and all the hype surrounding the movie.
The book states that it is FICTION. But anyways search the net and these theories in question have been existed since centuries. So what do we do then?
The basic question comes to this:
Is my faith in God so weak that due to a book or a film, Ihae to question myself?
In this case, it is not the book or film or the author BUT myself to be blamed.
