why do some/most athiests hate christianity instead of jewdism*/hinduism/islam/buddhi
don't say "we try to push our beliefs on you" because that's only a small portion of evangelists that give us a bad name, also, they're not doing it out of some sort of hatred or self benefit, its 100% wanting to help
And you let your religion guide your hand in the voting booth and you're collectively responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people because of that.
It's because of whine little self serving questions like this. You are the problem, quit talking about yourself and more people will listen and like you.
Christians are far more guilty of evangelism than any other religion -- denial of the problem doesn't make it go away.
If it helps, think of criticism of Christianity as directed solely against evangelists, not against the religion as a whole. Most people don't appreciate being told, "Believe what I tell you or you'll go to Hell".
It may be because Christianity is the most alive and directly contradicting to living for oneself, which is what atheists do. When they're confronted with the facts of Christianity, they have to make a choice, and they don't like that. Other belief systems are so embedded in traditions that it's easier to ignore. Hard to ignore seeing Christ working in someones life.
I've never had a Jew, Hindi, or Muslim come to my door and proselytize. I've also never had one of them tell me, "There's no hope for a Catholic," which a door-to-door "Christian" once told me when I explained my own religious preference.
Well, a large percent of the population is Christian. There are always a portion of these who are always trying to convert everyone to Christianity. This deeply irritates non-Christians. The reason they don't hate others is because they don't shove religion down people's throats, or there's none around to do so.
Because Christians tend to hate atheists, and pretty much anyone who ISN'T a Christian. May I remind you people of the Crusades, the Inquisition (which were all convert-or-die situations), and not to mention the witch trails and hunts. I think that they have too many reasons to be angry at Christians.
Because Christians rule our country right now and are deciding that EVERYONE must follow their policies. This is directly contrary to separation of church and state. If Jews (i can use this because i am Jewish) members of the Hinduism, Islamic, or Buddhist religion were in power and putting their policies on us, we wouldn't hate them.
Christianity poses the greatest threat to any other religion. Christianity is truth. The truth hurts, if you do not accept Jesus as your savior you are going to hell. Simple and true.
Yeah, I've never had a Hindu come up to me and say, do you want to be a Ezvahra caste member?
I've never had a Muslim try to convert me... or a Jew... or a Buddhist.
Yet somehow, I've had like several different types of Christians.
Gimme a break. Religion is personal, keep it to yourself - your own religion even says that. And so do the others, yet they actually follow it.
I am not an atheist nor do I follow any certain religion but I think a lot of people do clump Christians in with Jehovah's and Mormon's. It is the few who bring your religion down that makes many people think the preachy part is all Christianity
It's like that in your country, in other countries atheists hate whatever available as a dominant religion: Because the hate of this religion made them atheists. The world has its colors, even for the atheists.
I think it is mainly because a lot of Christians feel the need to push their religions on non-Christians. Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and most other religions don't feel the need to go around with a Bible and shove it down their throat.
A lot of Christians also start a lot of controversy. They complain about evolution (a scientific theory, not a religious one), gay people, and women choosing to get abortions. They get all up in arms if someone doesn't agree with them.
There are lots of reasons, but I'll try to keep this short.
1. As a Jew, I am atheist, and that's perfectly OK. Certain types of Judiasm give you the option to be atheist. I don't hate my religion, I love being Jewish!!
2. Buddhism and Hinduism don't actually believe in a god. They believe that you have to follow the right path, in order to become a good person. No gods involved.
3. You may say it's not true, but Christian do try to push their religion on other people. I have a story for you. One year, during high holiday services (these are the most important Jewish holidays) a group of people came to my temple and put Christian flayers on everyone care. Not only is this inconsiderate and rude, but also COMPLETELY disrespectful. It may be with good intentions, but you need to just learn to accept that not everyone believes the same things that you do.
That's only three reasons. There are many more, but I know if I kept going no one would ever read this whole thing, so I'll stop. However, just keep in mind that everyone different, and has the right to believe something other than what you believe.
Because Judaism forbids proselytizing, Hindus are not interested in forcing their beliefs on anyone and Buddhism is a life philosophy as much as it is a spiritual tradition.
As for Islam, this recent era is Christianity's first major run in with Islam in 300 years. So new generations of both sides are rekindling their animosity toward one another.
The long and short of it is, the judgmental, angry and sometimes cruel treatment of non-Christians and even other Christians by a great number of their co-coreligionists is the reason for the sentiment of which you speak.
Because sometimes Christians ask stupid questions .
For one thing, I've never ever talked to a Jewish or Hindu person who wants me to convert, only they like to share their beliefs with me and I'm perfectly fine with that.
There haven't been wars started by Judaism and Hinduism. No, don't count WW2 because it was started by Hitler's quest for power and conquest (yes, goal to eliminate the Jewish faith and people).
Jewish and Hindu folks don't go around harassing homosexuals, atheists/agnostics and people of other religions, publicly at least. They tend keep to themselves.
First, most atheists DON'T necessarily hate Christianity more than other religions... Most atheists hate the most predominant religion where they live. If you go to India, I am sure most of the atheists there will hate Hinduism more than other religions.
Second, the Bible says there is power in the Name of Jesus, and power in the Word of God. It is the Truth, coming from the Almighty. People will hate that most which condemns them the most. Islam and other religions outwardly condemn those who do not adhere to it, however, in the end, it is the Word of God (the Christian Bible) by which they will be condemned. They will naturally hate it more.
