Default Hillsongs - a prosperity movement within christianity ?

I am English but work in Singapore a little closer to Australia. I noted that Brian Houston who leads Hillsongs has gone into writing to whole-heatedly support a high profile leader in Singapore who is blatantly "health and wealth" in his teachings. The front row of the church is reserved for the super rich - it sounds amazing but the front row is supposed to give an example to the rest of the church. Most Christians in the UK would feel sick hearing this and we would never invite a prosperity preacher to our Churches. Yet we sing songs from Hillsongs when the leader blatantly supports this deception.

Should we as Christians not worship to songs born out of a prosperity driven movement ?! If we would not invite a preacher from such a movement why invite a worship song born out of it ?
Check out John Piper you tube clip which briefly explains the wickedness of this "different gospel" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLRue4nwJaA

More than ever we need to be circumspect with preaching via the mass media just as we do at the local church. "Deceivers will arise in the last days".
Certainly they carry a level of truth as the hill song people do but we know from experience life is not a bowl of cherries either for Christians or the generally blind crowds we seek to reach with the good news of forgiveness and restoration to God.

I really wish leaders would stick to their areas of expertise. Remember what happened in the Bible when Uzziah, a very successful and godly king with 50 years of peace and prosperity behind him, decided to take of the priests' job in the temple?

I'd say, take or reject each song on its own merit or lack thereof, and the same with theological principles.

You can not serve God & mammon both either you serve one or the other, choose today who you will serve as for me & my house we will serve the Lord. What is wrong with ministry in this day and age is that too many are compromising their ministry by tickling the ears of their parishioners, Which Jesus said would happen in the last days.

Pray and ask the Lord about it. God ministers to my heart through music and it may not always be through a Christian artist. Just listen to the song and make sure it is not teaching anything which is false. For example: I like Carolina Liar's song - Show Me What I'm Looking For and the Bravery - I Believe...etc.... If it teaches the truth, then I tend to listen to it. What's funny is that I don't like listening to Amy Grant's song Better than a Halleluyah. I'm thinking what is better than a Halleluyah? Yet again, it's good to pray and receive whatever truth God wants to relay to you concerning this subject.

This site has a good page exposing the false prosperity gospel. http://www.worshipinspiritandtruth.net/page9.htm
You are right, it is our duty to expose this error, but not have any part in it.

I just wanted to make sure you knew that Hillsong has always been a part of the "blatant health and wealth" teaching......it's in their "Our Beliefs" section of their website and always has been. They don't try to hide it and they don't force other churches to sing their songs. If you have a problem with it, then you don't have to support them. But no one can deny the fact that anointed songs constantly come out of that church and nothing you post on here is going to change that. People will continue to buy their CDs and sing their songs in churches all over the world. People have and will continue to give their lives to God as a direct result of their songs, but if you want to throw all of that out over a simple doctrinal disagreement, go right ahead.
