They are in harmony, as many theologians have pointed out over the centuries. For example, Thomas Aquinas.

As to the Church, this explains why Western Christian culture led the world in science, technology, democracy, and growth of civil rights and the middle class.

Excellent question!

Something just as mindless as their arguments today I presume. The Catholic Church got as big as it did through force (the inquisition) they killed and/or tortured those who disagreed so people readily went along out of fear.

Reason follows the belief that seeing is believing and faith, believing is seeing.

I'm only going against you since you seem to be going against others. If you had asked something like whats the differences between faith and logic or something like that without throwing in anything like Christianity I would not go against you.

Now that being said, do you believe in gravity? It is not a fact, It is a theory. Oh I know we don't fly into the air therefore of course it exists. Maybe its a different reason that makes us not fly out into outer-space like something pushing us down, belief structure or many other theories that have been made on that subject. So is it "logical" to believe in gravity.

Intelligent design is a scientific theory also, so if you said yes it is logical to believe in one theory, why can't you say it is logical to believe in another.

To put this in a bigger picture. You can say that logic is the Worlds most common belief structure. In other words if most of the World believes it, then it is logically true. Now most of the World believes in some form of Intelligent design, therefore logically it must be true; if you go by that logic.

FAITH AND REASON
The relationship between human response to God's revelation and use of human native intelligence. This relationship is mainly of three kinds, where the role of reason is to assist divine faith: 1. reason can establish the rational grounds for belief by proving God's existence, his authority or credibility as all-wise and trustworthy, and by proving that God actually made a revelation since he confirmed the fact by working (even now) miracles that testify to God's having spoken to human beings, especially in the person of Jesus Christ; 2. reason can further reflect on what God has revealed and thus come to an even deeper and clearer understanding of the divine mysteries; and 3. reason can both show that the mysteries of faith are in harmony with naturally known truths and can defend their validity against the charge of being contrary to reason.

Human reason is the spark of the divine within us. It is our capacity to know the truth of things.

One thing that make us human is our ability to think our way through to convictions (or strong beliefs). So reason and faith cannot be in conflict.

True faith
? Is reasonable faith
? Makes sense
? Can be proposed as reasonable to others

Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth?in a word, to know himself?so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves (cf. Ex 33:18; Ps 27:8-9; 63:2-3; Jn 14:8; 1 Jn 3:2).
