If a new discovery proved Christianity wrong, what would the Church do?
If a scientific discovery proved beyond any doubt with physical evidence that the Christian religion is wrong, what would the Church do? What would believers of Christianity say? What would you say?
Would they just ignore the evidence and continue to believe?
Would they try to cover up the new discovery and keep it secret?
Would they rewrite Church doctrine to accommodate the new discovery?
Would they abandon Christianity as being a false theory and form/join another religion?
They would deny it as they've done with every new discovery that contradicts their dead, superstitious book. I can't wait to see what they say about aliens in the future. Are they under Jesus too?
They would simply rearrange their views but still claim that Christianity is the only truth. Remember, It's by faith and not by sight. In other words, 'we don't have to believe everything in the bible, we just know it to be true'.
The Catholic Church? They couldn't care less. They are more concerned with Mary, the saints and the pope than to be concerned with what Jesus Christ has to say.
As far as I am concerned, you would have to show me a corpse. You would have to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that this was, in fact, the body of Jesus Christ. But, you can't do it.
The simple answer to all of this is No, they would manage to find a way which makes Christianity right. They would deny it and suggest that what ever evidence they had that suggested what they believed was wrong was really somehow God's doing and that they have perceived it wrong. They would most likely use the excuse that a lot to do with the religion is really symbolic so people could understand better.
the historical events in the bible are proving to be false
but i think the stories are meant to be inspirational not literal i think the bible stories are angel tales to get adults to do good verses fairy tales to make kids be good
They can no longer legally force the author/discoverer to recant, but they can try to bring social and economic pressure to bear. They will claim that the evidence is inconclusive, based on finding anything that it doesn't explain. They can misquote or misinterpret the evidence and arguments so that others won't see the logic in it. They can blame it on the devil, usually implying that the discoverer is deliberately in league with Satan. If all else fails they will reinterpret the scriptures that their ideas are based on, possibly be claiming they were only "symbolic", and claim they not only always accepted the new idea, but even that they thought of it first. There are always passages in the Bible that they can quote for support. But mostly, they will accept it during the week and deny it on Sunday. That has been my experience.
The resurrection happened as every christian knows. Its like the Big Bang. We weren't there, but there were follow-on events that prove it happened, things of which we have a personal share.
It is possible that St Peter died in Jerusalem though, which could threaten the legitimacy of the Pope. There was allegedly a dig in a benedictine abbey outside Jerusalem in 1953 that found an pessary with the name Simon Barjonah on it and bones inside, dating from the 1st century. This was Peter's original full name. The whole story got buried though, as the dig was done by catholic people. Maybe the pessary is in some vault under the Vatican, or maybe it has been destroyed.
The Church means the Roman Catholic Church. Guided by the Holy Ghost and with Christ as the Invisible Vicar, the Church is divine itself. It cannot be wrong.
That is how you know that the 1958 Montinian Church is in error. It has been completely upended, It is NOT of the Holy Ghost or Christ. It has ball en into Apostasy and leads a million ninnies along with it.
