Default Do you think that instead of bringing people to Christianity, the fundamentalists are

Why or why not?

Those who have chosen to leave Christianity have done so for their own reasons. It cannot be anyone Else's fault but their own that they have rejected Jesus Christ.

Fundamentalists are scary insane. Even if I was a believer I would have no desire to associate myself with them.

Some are drawn to the fundamentalist aspect.

Also, the term itself is a bit nebulous.

In short, the way some practice their faith is unfortunate. But, if one dismisses the faith due how others mishandle it, I find that a rather odd reason for doing so.

Democracy is mishandled, but I don't throw it in the bin.

It could make some wonder about the religion, if it has that type of followers.

The ones who try to convert people by telling them they'll go to hell if they don't? Yes.

YES.

Fundies are poor examples of Christians. However, they are the noisiest. They give a very poor impression of Christianity. Also they try to convert Christians to their cults and in some ways try to ram their false doc tines into other peoples' throats.

I dislike painting all fundamentalists with a broad brush. But from personal experience I can tell you that some tend to drive people away from THEM, and if they have been the only example of what it is to be Christian then yes, the people they've repelled want nothing to do with Christ. That's the saddest thing about those who have become so fearfully rigid that they see everyone who isn't like them as either an enemy, or a conversion project -- instead of seeing in others the image of God.

Edit: Aww, my very first thumbs-down after a year's absence. I feel really special.
