Default What is the rising role of Fundamentalist Christianity in US government politics?

Evangelicals have penetrated the gov to influence US foreign and domestic policy according to the Bible. Those such as as Ashcrofft, Bush, etc.
If they get their chance, they want a theocracy.....and holy wars.

Obama isn't part of that I take it?

He only sent 60,000+ troops to Afghanistan... so he's just another evangelical... right?

no, you re off on your assumptions. the moral majority and christian right was at it's zenith in the 80's. they have really fallen off as for political power. they got screwed by tom delay and all that crap.

also it's very important to remember that moral issues such as abortions simply aren't on the front burner right now. everybody is concerned with economics and those issues don't play well with the hard core christian right.

the hard core christian right likes "hot button" issues. abortion, illegal immigrants, gay rights, guns, etc....they really aren't into long term debt structure or a meaningful energy policy.... WTF, neither are the libs for that matter.

sometimes i think i am surrounded by idiots.....that's just the way it is.....dang it!
