why blacks accepted christianity even when they were treated like dogs?
Islam was the first religion which gave them respect and equality but most of them became Christians.....was it for money?...or they were forced to become Christians?
its the truth of God... see to our naked eyes....we would think this way! But the truth always sets you free. See, Christianity was forced upon the slaves... but its amazing how after all that bad that happened, God still was praised and worshiped. Those who forced Christianity upon the slaves were not real Christians. similar to "false priest". God's true grace and love will ALWAYS win even when ignorant people on this earth think they rule it by devilish ambitions. They may win a few battles... maybe for a few days, months, years, decades, or centuries... but in the very end... the War if already won Thur Christ. Lil its like when they say " nice guys finish last".... this is true. But the nice guy finishing last means he WON the war if he is finishing last.
The first to give them love and equality was Christ Jesus. Your faith came after He walked the earth. Your faith constantly gives praise to His name. Yet you will say such a thing as this? I hope you are not a Muslim because lying about the order of events of history is a big no-no. Atheists can get away with it because it is the playground of theology. Not your spot though. You are to keep events of the past in their proper order.
They chose to follow Jesus Christ because God called them and they listened. The same reason I follow Him. Because He is the Living Word.
People don't accept Christianity, they accept Christ. Religions dint' give out respect and equality, people do. Or they don't. You can't blame God or an entire religion for another Hyman's incorrect manifestation of carrying out that particular religion.
It gave them peace, happiness, and hope. It let them know that they were not dogs, and that there was a place to go after death. Honestly, these Christians should be examples for all of us.
I guess they liked the eternal aspect of it e.g. Heaven and the easiness to follow it unlike Islam.
The social benefits because blacks in early America were abused, and the prospects of being Christian included less physical torment.
Maybe it was the belief that a God would reward them in the afterlife that motivated their will to strive and endure.
You are so misled and misinformed. First of all the originally Jews were Black, also Christianity was introduced in Africa, when Phillip Baptized the Ethiopian eunuch, long before it was introduced in Europe...
The slave states of the United States, viewed the slaves as heathens to race (Africans are the descendants of Ham). In 1667, Virginia's assembly enacted a bill declaring that baptism did not grant freedom to slaves. In contrast to the British colonies, following 1680, the Spanish government of Florida offered freedom to escaped slaves who made it into their territory and converted to Catholicism. So you tell me you wouldn't have converted if giving the opportunity of freedom and equality. But it still boiled down to money. If Christianity was only about teaching and guiding you without having to give any money it would not be pushed as it is. Being that so many powerful organizations benefit from the offerings of it's followers they will continue teach and preach that this is the true way. If the money stopped trust me they would only find another way.
