As a whole, there is none.
Christianity does not recognize Buddhism as anything but a cult of meditates who try to achieve nothing.
Buddhism, with the "many fold path," accepts all religions, so obviously they have no problem with Christians...or anyone else for that matter.
Christians are sorry that Buddhists will go to Hell, but that is about it.
Well, I'm a Christian myself. I don't hold any hostility towards those who are Buddhists. As a christian man, I have love for them, but I don't have the same beliefs as they do.
I cannot speak for others as this is open to ones perception and interpretation of said beliefs. As one who has researched the many religions and spiritual beliefs it did come down to a choice between Christianity and Buddhism. As I eventually discovered some personal conflict with certain concepts of Christianity. I then settled for Buddhism. Buddha was a human being who sought out inner peace, harmony and enlightenment not just within himself, but for and with all humans, animals and nature in it's entirety. As a human being Buddha knew he was not perfect and accepted this fact. He simply attempted to become a better human being and created a basic philosophy for harmony in life and with life's many forms.
I am not knocking Christianity or any other religion. A lot of which is open to much debate between their differences. The final choice comes down to ones personal preference. Finally, as a Buddhist I have no negative feelings towards Christians as it pertains to your question above. Wish I could be of more help with your question.
And for EverGreenA3: Hell is one of those concepts that I found a conflict with. I feel it was created to scare people into the beliefs of other religions. No offense meant, but I will pray for your enlightenment.
I don't think that Buddhists have any hostility towards Christians. And MOST Christians do not have any hostility for Buddhists, but there are a few Christians who view ALL other religions as evil.
There is no evidence that Buddhists, as a group, have ever held animosity towards any other religion. Buddhism acknowledges that there are many paths to enlightenment. Some paths are true and others are not, but that is not for us to determine for other people. What works for me may not work for someone else and what works for them may not work for me, thus all people have the right to seek their own path. This is a fundamental Buddhist teaching found in all sects of Buddhism.
Having been a Christian, I can tell you that Christians, as a group, have mixed feelings about Buddhist or any other religion for that matter. Some are open and accepting of Buddhists. Others feel sorry for Buddhists because of their belief that Buddhists, having rejected biblical stories about accepting god into our lives, are condemned people. Others believe that Buddhism is some sort of new age mambo jumbo and think it is evil. (I guess they don?t realize Buddhism out dates Christianity a few hundred years.). There are also those Christian fundamentalists that believe that anything NOT of the bible is of the devil and therefore evil.
The fact is that Christians as a group are not very open to other faiths. Like the Muslims who argue and fight between the denominations of Islam (Sunni, Shiite, etc...) Christianity has done likewise in centuries past. Christians have also waged war on other faiths and at different times, made the practice of any religion other then Christianity a crime. (Any religion other then Christianity, or Judaism was considered satanic and punishable by death in Europe.) Most Christians have come a long, long way, but there are still the fundamentalists that believe ridicule, separation and intimidation is the best response to none-Christians. It is a sad thing, but as a Buddhist I hope that one day these people will open their eyes and accept us for who we are and come to the understanding that even though we are not walking the same road, we are taking the same trip.
I'm a Buddhist. I can't say I feel any tension between myself a Christians. As far as negative feeling towards any religious group, I have to say I am opposed to Islamofascism. But that's a pretty popular opinion that is based in my generalized opposition towards religious violence and oppression.
oh, and I'm kinda irked with the Scientologists for ruining Chef. South Park won't be the same without him.
