Default Why is it that it take ( I'm not a racist ) a white man civilization to bring Christi

Itz really amazing on how the word of "Christ" gotten to Africa by a bunch of power hungry white men to go and bring fellow human beings to a Prue-owned land for slavery; then manage to teach this re legion to them. Why not Jesus ?

Actually there's a book you should read. "White man" is hardly civilized. It's called "Lies My Teachers Told Me". You can pick it up at Barnes & Noble.

You're confusing missionaries with slave traders. Though a slave trader might want to disguise himself as a missionary, they are very different things.

Here's a better question:

Why did it take a black man civilization to bring "for sizzle" to the United States? Hmmm?

because white people used Christianity as an excuse to go to Africa and bring back slaves. they made it seem like they were going to give them a better life and teach them the "christian way." it is what has been called the "white man's burden." they made it seem life black people were animals who needed white people to civilize them. it's totally bogus.

Throughout history, all races have been guilty of this type of behavior. Religion has always been a tool of those in power to enforce "acceptable" behaviors. That said, It shouldn't matter how you find God, Allah, Yahweh, or whatever so long as you find God.....and that in doing so you achieve peace and happiness in yourself. But hey that's just my opinion.

I'm curious as to why it matters? Peoples beliefs are their own business. If an African person wants to be Christian, that's his business no matter what color the person who taught it to him is.

Because Jesus was not in Africa. And people who were there before slavery were ignorant and uneducated (no offense intended). They didn't know how to read, so how could they read the Bible or other religious books? By the way, (I am not racist either) white people did not just go take Africans for slaves. They were sold into slavery by other BLACK Africans. I think that the best person to answer your question would be God Himself, not us.

Cultural and lexical imperialism.
*Civilisation* is their word to cover what they did.

Mahatma Ghandi was once asked what he thought about "Western Civilisation", he replied:
"That would be a good idea" !!!

Don't let the past get you down.
Look to the future and then make that future happen without copying the mistakes and crimes of those in the past.

Back in the day wherever Romans (Europeans) went to rule, they brought their religion with them. If you didn't take it in stride, they killed you. if you spoke against the religion, they killed you. if you were married before the religion came to your home and didn't abide by the rules of the lord, they killed you...get where I'm going with this?? the Pol of Africa got tired of dying, so they converted. i think Jesus had bigger problems just in the area he was in (look what happened to him). had he lived, i believe he would have eventually made it to Africa and converted them also, just without all the killing.

Slavery and Christianity are not linked.

Jesus was Jewish, and the Jewish people were slaves in Egypt at one point, until led out by Moses. Jesus lived in a time when Roman's ruled Israel, and the Jews were treated as subservient.

Times change, ideas on slavery change, and even religious tenants are updated.

Modern day Christians do not believe in slavery. Societies often try to mix religion with slavery to justify their bad behavior, but this is only surface, and subject to God's judgment as sinful behavior.

Early Christians had brought the Faith not only into North Africa (which was a Roman province) but further south into Africa proper and into China (Nestorians). When Islam exploded out of Arabia, the Christian presence in much of Africa was destroyed. In fact, the Portuguese established the colony of Zaire as a firebreak to stop the southern expansion of Islam.

This will always be a issue. I wouldn't worry too much about it, someday all of this madness will come to a end.

As mentioned, Ethiopians were Christians long before Europeans were. They also sent a group of monks to stay in Jerusalem near where Christ was supposedly crucified long before the Romans built a church on the site. I've spent some time in Jerusalem and had some great conversations with the Ethiopian monks who still live there on their specific type of Christianity. It's nowhere near as elaborate of a faith as Roman Catholic or Greek Orthodox Christianity, and seems to be much more direct and humble. Also, according to the paintings in their church, Jesus was black, or at least on the dark side of Middle Eastern brown, which seems much more likely than the pale Jesus often depicted in European churches. So, from a historical point of view, Africans formed the first organized Christian church, while white people were still worship ping Zeus, Odin, and assorted other sun and sky gods. White Europeans didn't start to convert to Christianity until several hundred years after the Ethiopians, and many Europeans, especially in Northern Europe, were still practicing their traditional religions a thousand years later.

The first Christians were not Europeans or WASPs. Read church history, and you'll see that the evangelizing of the European peoples was over centuries.

It would be nice if we were all born with a Sunday-school teacher in our right pocket with accurate directions to heaven.

We're not. All religions are location and history specific, and only spread over time. Christianity came from the Jewish faith, and slowly spread. Anything that becomes popular will be abused by those in power. Upon the colonization of Africa, Christianity was used for this. There's no nice way to look at it, without distorting or ignoring facts.

That is a good question that I would like to know the answer to as well. First they steal and enslave men and women. Place them in the cruelest slavery known to mankind. Then turn right around and offer up a religion with a blond haired blue eyed Jesus who is going to save and comfort them after they are dead of course. I wonder what Jesus has planned for the slaveholders? New worlds for them to conquer and enslave....

If your dumb enough to believe that well......
