Default Chronicles Of Narnia and Christianity?

The recent hit movie "Chronicles Of Narnia; The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe" has received praise from religious groups for having certain parallels to Christianity. As someone who has has read all seven books in the series I can say that there is a thread of Christian symbolism that runs through the books. Not so much in "The Lion Witch and Wardrobe" as in the other books in the series, or in the series as a whole. But when I saw the movie I really notice it as being an overly religious based movie. What do you think. Those who have not read the books but seen the movie do you think it seems like a religious movie? Also, input on the books from those who have read them.

YES it does have Christian undertones. Aslan stands for Christ because when he comes winter ends and spring begins. He sacrificed himself for Edward(like Jesus) but came back to life(again like Jesus). The White Witch symbolizes Satan and the Turkish delight is temptation and sin but it show when you follow Satan it may be alright at first but you can never trust him. If you trust Aslan(Jesus) everything was alright in the end.

I disagree. I think the most symbolic of the books are The Last Battle and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. The Last Battle is definitely reminiscent of the book of Revelation in the Bible. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is the perfect analogy for the life of Christ.

CS Lewis put a christian message into his books (not just Narnia, also the "Out of the Silent Planet" series) with a great splash rather than subtlety. To call them religious would go too far, though. They are clearly works of fiction which use christian (and pagan!) mythic themes, but that's a common trait to most fantasy.

Other authors (e.g. German travel novelist Karl May) put strong christian messages into their works, too, without anyone ever accusing them of writing religious works.
