Is it a contradiction in Christianity that Mary (PBUH) has a virgin birth to a king i
If Joseph (PBUH) was descended from the line of Kings, from Abraham (PBUH), and Mary (PBUH) gave birth without seed of Joseph (PBUH) to Jesus (PBUH), isn't it false to refer to Jesus (PBUH) as King?
He is THE King of Kings. Jesus is God. How more regal can you get? Also, Jesus said many times that he was a kingdom. "If MY kingdom were of this world..."
Nope. The reference to Jesus as King was as King of the universe and all things. Even though Joseph was not Jesus's biological father, he was his earthly father and cared for him as such. So Jesus was in the line of the Kings as given in scripture, God did this on purpose.
Yes, this is the most blatant contradiction in the Christian Bible, indicating that the birth of Jesus was by no means a virgin birth. It's been theorized that Mary has to fabricate the tale of divine intervention in order to avoid being put to death; premarital sex was forbidden for women and punishable by death.
How ironic that the very first chapter of the New Testament so obviously contradicts the very basis of Christianity.
The above is true, also Jesus is Son of God, just for that reason He is King even disregarding the Davidic line, because God is King in Himself and king of all creation. Joseph was from the very house that would inherit the kingship of David, from the very house so His Son is obviously one with a right to that throne.
Mary's line does go back to David, his son Nathan. Joseph line was told they will not inherit the throne because of a king named Jehoram. Nathan's blood line will reign forever through Christ as God promised David. Josephs bloodline will not being from Jehoram as God said.
?And as for you, O deadly wounded, wicked chieftain of Israel, whose day has come in the time of the error of the end, this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ?Remove the turban, and lift off the crown. This will not be the same. Put on high even what is low, and bring low even the high one. A ruin, a ruin, a ruin I shall make it. As for this also, it will certainly become no one?s until he comes who has the legal right, and I must give it to him.?"
So the Messiah had to be a descendant, legally and physically, of King David.
Jesus was legally, through his assumed father Joseph, who was actually his step-father, and physically through his mother Mary.
