on a small scale yes they do persist. but i guess that as with notable exceptions they've always been small scale cultures, they're doing as well as ever.

Yes and some people still eat bugs but does that make them bad people. Who is to say what is and ia not.

I disagree. Religion is not the only incursion on indigenous cultures. Technology of all types, from weapons to textiles to medicine; political and economic ideology, from socialism to communism to capitalism; and increased mobility of goods and people all have profound effects on all African cultures, even the most remote.
