Default Is Confucianism the same as Buddhism?

I'm atheist, and I really like the teachings of Buddhism. I'm thinking of becoming a Buddhist. Is it the same a Confucianism? I don't understand...wasn't Confucius a Buddhist?

Confucianism is based on ethics - the way rulers should treat the ruled.

Buddhism is based on "waking up." It is the ultimate self-realization path. It is based on the way you treat yourself, your community, your nation, and your world.
