Well, I was raised in a Methodist kind of way and am now an atheist which is no reflection on Methodists; I would have become an atheist no matter to which religion I was most exposed because I learned to read and think critically, which is fatal to a superstition based life.
Although Confucianism is almost a state religion in some Asian countries because of adherence to Confucian philosophy, to me personally it is not a theology because it does not name, nor worship, any sort of god or supreme being. It is more a philosophy which embraces humanity and the idea that people can be improved or can improve themselves by following the tenets of a philosophy of honesty, righteousness, knowledge, and integrity.
I also have a vague notion that ancestors are revered and that there might be a belief that one can communicate with them or that they watch over one, but I am not sure.
At any rate, to me it is a philosophy and not a theology.
