Default What religious category is confucianism in?

I am doing a project for school and I am having a very hard time finding the answer to this question. I know it isn't technically a religion but what is the closest answer?
I know it isn't a religion but if you had to put it into a religious category what would it be?

It's not a religion period.

It's a philosophy.

Although, you could probably tie it into Zen Buddhism. They use his texts.

Confucius did not come up with a religion, and he tried to emphasize that. He was simply a Chinese thinker and a social philosopher.

His philosophy talks about personal and governmental morality (not God-given), correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity (in this life, with no promises of a 'final judgment').

It's an Asian philosophy not a religion. I would debate that with the instructor and prove the point that it's not an actual religion. but in a nice way.

Add:
Honestly, I can't put that in a religion as it doesn't fit with any religion. Your instructor is either teaching you incorrectly (and perhaps biased) or it's a trick question.

All of my Asian countries based their religion off of wisdom-the wisdom of men.Confucianism, hinduism, budhism, and Krishna and their off-shoots all place god in wisdom.

It is an Oriental religion.

And YES, it IS a religion, because Confucianists believe in God(or Ti'en, as they call Him), & worship their ancestors.
