Confucianism is a political philosophy - it's all about government, laws, etc. There were times when people started worship ping the guy who started it all, but they rarely do. It is certainly legal to teach about the political aspects of it since it strongly influenced politics in China and other countries.

Yes, it is a religion, and they teach it in Chinese public schools all the time.

I think it's more of a philosophy than a religion. It's not really a belief it's an ideal.

Confucianism is a philosophy or school of thought, not a religion. It sometimes is mixed with religion because its history is intertwined with Taoism and Bhuddism.

So technically, it can be taught at a public school. But in reality, you would probably encounter resistance to the idea because so many confuse it with religion.

i think it should be put into the same category as religion because it is a way of life. but it's in the exact same boat as communism, a political way of life.

It's more philosophy.

I think schools should have a course on religions and philosophies of the world. They just shouldn't preach to students.

It's not a religion, it's a philosophy. And quite a good one, at that. It should be taught and understood, but not forced onto people.

Neil, they don't teach religion in government-run schools in Communist China.
