well it gives a lot of specific direction for exactly what to do, so if you need direct guidance about what to do then that is for you. i think the directions are mostly obsolete personally.

wow I see your problem, all three of those so called "religions" are ridiculous. Find a book of Confusious' sayings and figure something out, good luck.

There is no reason why you "should". There is little chance that you can understand either well without much effort. I wonder what your essay is really supposed to be about. Perhaps you could look on the Internet to find what Chinese find valuable about each.

Confucianism is actually a political philosophy on which the early Chinese based their government and society. It is very interesting and easy to understand. There are five hierarchical relationships. Let me see if I remember. Son give obedience to father, younger to elder, subject to prince, all to emperor, and, I think it may be wife to husband. There may also be younger brother to older brother, but I am not sure.
The others are basically religions. That is why the Chinese over the centuries inculcated Taoism and Buddhism in with their other beliefs.

Confucianism and original Taoism is not religion, they are philosophy about life. If you study carefully and deeply, both of them is talking about freedom of human against their natural or instinct. The different is Confucianism is base on the view of Society and culture, while Taoism is from the angle of view of natural way (Dao).

And Buddhism is a religion that originally from India, and eventually evolve in China, majorly there is 3 sects of Buddhism; India, Tibet and China, and of cause the Tibet Buddhism has evolved and influenced by Tibet culture, and China Buddhism is influenced by Confucianism and Taoism too.

So there shouldn't be any issues of Why select Confucianism instead of Taoism and Buddhism, for they have no conflict among each other.
