These 'religions' believe in the supernatural, but are of the understanding that the supernatural doesn't bring happiness in life. They are similar belief systems to Buddhism, in that you live your life in the present and dint struggle with anything that comes your way. You do not attach yourself to circumstances, simply observe them and understand that nothing is permanent. Things pass through our lives like clouds in the sky.

Taoism and Confucianism have to be seen side-by-side as two distinct responses to the social, political and philosophical conditions of life two and a half millennial ago in China. Whereas Confucianism is greatly concerned with social relations, conduct and human society, Taoism has a much more individualistic and mystical character, greatly influenced by nature.

According to http://www.religioustolerance.org/confuciu.html

Confucianism centers around 6 core values

Li: includes ritual, propriety, etiquette, etc.

Hsiao: love within the family: love of parents for their children and of children for their parents

Yi: righteousness

Xin: honesty and trustworthiness

Jen: benevolence, humaneness towards others; the highest Confucian virtue

Chung: loyalty to the state, etc.

The goal of Confucianism is to be all of these things.
