Daoism is about going with the flow, Confucianism is all about ritual.

Taoism, by my understanding is based on observation of nature, whereas Confucianism is about social structure and the virtues of adhering to legal norms.

Taoism is much less structured than Confucianism. It relies mostly on ones self, nature, and ultimately finding the Tao, or the way of the universe. Confucianism is more a social set of beliefs centered all around family and the five basic relationships: Ruler to Subject, Father to Son, Husband to Wife, Older Brother to Younger Brother, and Friend to Friend. All except the last is superior to inferior relationships.
