Default What exactly are the Druze?

Are they an Islamic sect or are they actually of another faith?

I know that they are monotheistic, but are they also considered Muslims?
This is random, but I find it funny, so feel free to add your thoughts: A Palestinian Muslim is considering to run for governor here in Texas.
Imagine that: a Muslim governor in Texas!

Assalamualaikum

Actually they not quite a Muslim Sect but they are a minority Monotheistic Group who are said to be an offshoot of Islam similar to the Bahais, you'd find many of them in Syria and Lebanon, the following explains in detail what they really are:

They believe that you cannot read the Quran until you are 40 years old and its not the Quran we know, its their own book. What if one dies at 39? What then? Those of the book are protected by the book but they are way out there in left field.
