I am not sure what the answer to this question is, but I am sure it has no more significance than whether one or another ending to a fictional film is better.

Faith. But a profession of faith without works is an empty profession.

The Orthodox belief is the same as the Catholic belief.

I'm a Roman Catholic, my grandfather and my father were Russian Orthodox and my father converted to Roman Catholic. He said there is not that many differences between the faiths.

As the scriptures teach, we are saved by grace, through faith, unto good works. (Paul, Eph 2:8-10). We are not saved by "faith alone" (James 2). We *shall be judged by our works. Matt 25:31-46.

"The Church believes that "He shall come again with glory to judge" the world and everyone on earth, to "render to every man according to his works" (Romans 2:6) of faith in Christ and His Gospel, his love expressed in good works, and in helping others, described as the "least," as explicit witnesses to the steadfastness of his faith in Him. In the Orthodox Church, the justification and salvation of man depends on the standard of "faith which worker by love" (Gal. 5:6)." [1]

In short, we are not saved by our works, but neither are we saved without them.

Blessings.
