Depends on who you ask. They would tell you that they were the first church, and that the Western rite split from them in 1054, A.D. (The Great Schism). They celebrate all the same holidays as other Christians, but sometimes on different dates.

I am Orthodox so I am my own source...I'll try to be as informative as possible with our writ ting a book.
Our major Holidays and how we observe them in church.
and If I may be so bold my Church web page is
http://www.lasvegasorthodox.com/library/index.html we have a good library on line.
We can trace our selves to the the Apostles- the catholics can as well but there is a matter of the schism in 1054. We and the catholics do have very similar Church Calendars the difference and some of use the Jullian calendar is the feat of the resurrection is calculated differently. You can read a bit at
http://www.lasvegasorthodox.com/library/index.html
The start of the Liturgical year is in September when the Birth of Mary is celebrated then in November advent starts which is a fast ends on Christmas- which gives us a fast free period of 12 days. Tiphany- the blessing of the water when Holy water is blessed. then this closes with The Feast of the Presentation of our Lord and Savior in the Temple, which in the west is called candle mas as candles are blessed. Then the next fast is lent and then comes the Feast of the Resurrection which in Arabic, Greek and other languages is called some thing like Sakha-a word related to the word for passover. Holy week begins with Palm Sunday and obviously ends with Paskha.
We use an older calculation of Paskha while the west uses a newer one. which is why we usually don't celebrate on the same day. Many Orthodox in the US use Paskha to identify our celebration and easter to identify the western celebration.
Easier than saying ___ Easter.
the Eastern Orthodox Church is dived into regional branches or synods headed eaither by an Archbishop/Metropolitan or Patriarch which is why you have the Greek Russian American Serbian and so fourth. Thee some Minor regional differences like Russians don't use palms on palm Sunday- thy use a type of willow.
You'll see both used in the US.
We'll mark the days of saints with processions around the Church special services and hymns about the saint as well as Icons and folks tend to do more to mark their local saints. For example a Church were there more folks of a Russian background will do more to mark Saint vladimr's day While Bulgarians would do more to mark Saint Boris's day and a Church in Greece might not might not do as much to mark Saint Herman of Alaska as a Church in the US- or in parts of Russia would. Some of us use the Gregorian and some the Julian. We're slow to change.
All bishops are equal so every one has only one vote. If you want to know more I would recommend going to an Orthodox Church reading a book by Bishop Kalistos (ware) Also known Timothy Ware called the Orthodox Church.

The Orthodox Church began with the first Pentecost, in...I think...33 A.D. .
There were five EQUAL capitals of Christianity for a long time. Rome was one of them, and eventually became the Roman Catholic Church.

There are many, many holidays in the Othodox tradition. So many that no one parish can celebrate all of them, as many of them are more important for one ethnic group than for another.
For example: The Greek Church may celebrate on dates for Greek saints, while the Russian Church tends to celebrate dates of Russian saints.
There's nothing wrong with this. We still recognize and respect all saints regardless of ethnicity.
The major holidays are celebrated by all Orthodox Churches, as does the Roman Church.
The most important is Holy Pascha---which in English is called Easter.

Here is a list of holidays which I shamelessly copied from a Greek Orthodox website.

Nativity of the Theotokos..............................September
Exaltation of the Holy Cross...........................September
Presentation of the Theotokos in the Temple.....November
Christmas (Nativity of Jesus Christ).................December
Epiphany (Baptism of Christ)..........................January
Presentation of Christ in the Temple................February
Annunciation (Evangelismos)..........................March
EASTER (Pascha)........................................(V aries from year to year)
Ascension......................................... .........(40 Days after Easter)
Pentecost......................................... .........(50 Days after Easter)
Transfiguration of Christ................................August
Dormition of the Theotokos (Kimissis)...............August
