For eastern-orthodox:
Not lent: be vegan on all Fridays and Wednesdays except if it's a major holiday, in which case you can have fish.

During lent: (first week of Easter lent just vegetarian) vegan, in less there's a major holiday, in which case you can have fish. ON good/black Friday, no food or drinks from waking until sunset.

The first week after Easter you don't have to fast from meat or dairy in wed. and Fri.

The "general rule" for fasting in the Catholic Church is ;
- 1 hour before Communion
- abstaining from meat on Fridays in Lent unless you perform another penance
- abstaining from meat on Ash Wednesday unless you perform another penance
- you do not fast on feasts days (such as Sundays, other than the fast before Communion)

The rules can vary from rite to rite. The best thing to do is look it up.

addition to Cockney...

also, no food or drink from midnight (or sunset) before a morning liturgy if you intend to take communion. For an evening liturgy, no food or drink from a light lunch on.
