In the Orthodox Churches, an infant receives baptism, holy communion and confirmation on the same occasion. In the original Christian Church these sacraments are normally administered on three separate occasions, each separated by about 8 years, more or less.

Roman Catholics view the bread and wine as the actual body and blood of Jesus. I believe Eastern Orthodox treat it as symbolic.

I think the only other major difference is that Roman Catholics accept the Pope's authority.

Catholics believe the bread and wine transform into the body and blood of Christ whereas i believe that Eastern Orthodox churches believe in the symbolism of the body and blood of Christ. The main reasons the church separated was because, as dumb as it sounds, of a dispute over the date of Easter and over beards.

there main disagreement is the wording of the creed, also the appointments of patriarchs for each area instead of the pope overall, but they do get on well together

To the posters here who said that in Orthodoxy, the Bread & Wine are only symbolic:

No, Orthodox--like Catholic--believe in the Literal Presence Of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.

It is the majority of Protestant denominations(Anglicans((Episcopalians)) & possibly Lutherans being the exception) which believe it to only be symbolic.

In Eastern Orthodox Church confirmation(Christian) is done right after the baptism. The Eucharist is also given soon - to infants also.

The Eucharist is given to all believers (not only to the clergy) in both Species. EO Christian believe it's the real Body and Blood of Christ.

Chrismation is practiced by anointing the new Christian with chrism, which is holy oil (Gk. Myron). The Myron is a "mixture of forty sweet-smelling substances and pure olive oil" (Gialopsos, 35). The Christian is anointed with this oil in the sign of the Cross on his forehead, eyes, nostrils, mouth, ears, breast, hands and feet. Each time, the priest administering the sacrament says, "The Seal and Gift of the Holy Spirit."

The sacrament of Christian is an extension of the day of Pentecost, on which the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Apostles. It is by Chrismation that a person becomes a layperson?a member of the Laos, the people of God. Bishop Kallistos (Ware) of Diokleia explains:

Through Chrismation every member of the Church becomes a prophet, and receives a share in the royal priesthood of Christ; all Christians alike, because they are chrismated, are called to act as conscious witnesses to the Truth. 'You have an anointing (chrisma) from the Holy One, and know all things' (I John 2:20) (Ware, 279).
