Default Is Eckankar pagan?

All this discussion about whether a person's pagan, or isn't, has me mildly curious.

I'd never bothered wondering before.

And I've never known of an Eckie wondering about it.

Rax: That HU is long, nasal
fourthlynegreed on all counts
Queensomething: Eckies don't denounce witchcraft as any sort of doctrinal policy. They don't have a doctrinal policy. Your friend was expressing a personal viewpoint.

More esoteric than pagan. Calling any deity 'HI' is different.

God has always been the same before Abraham to a million years from now.

People stare at the bottle, and forget that the wine has not changed, and cannot change.

Pagans worship the same God that Christians do.

If you disagree, than you are saying that there is more than one Almighty God.

Eckankar is not a religion but a way of life. It is a spiritual path, which is open to followers of all religions.

I really don't know the meaning of pagan, but if it helps you understand, call them what you will. But we should respect all.

In the broadest sense of the word, anyone that is not Christian, Jewish or Mulsim is Pagan.

I have a friend who has been and Eck student for over 20 years, Eckists do not identify themselves as "Pagan". In fact, when I visit with this friend, I often read her Eck books. In one of the books, they denounced "witchcraft". I don't know what their view is of other Pagan paths.

I don't know all the specifics about that religion/philosophy, but it doesn't appear to have come from ancient pagan practices. I'm not saying it is or isn't Pagan, but it seems they are just as modern as, say, Wicca... using some ancient ideas and spirituality and forming it into a modern idea.
