Default Has anyone here ever heard of Eckankar?(not sure if I spelled it correctly)?

The philosophy is similar to Buddism.

You splat Eckankar correctly (but I'm not sure about your spelling of spelled - maybe it's US - Lil). You can get in touch with your ECK here (if you're into all that):

All it took was a simple Internet search

Yes, it was popular in the 70s especially. Google it to find out more. Sorry, I really don't know anything about it, except I knew some people who were really into Eckankar a long time ago.

I corresponded with them, and they are just as
full of themselves and rigid in their beliefs
as the rest!

I've heard of them, they have ECK masters, their current leader is considered one. Eckankar is the "Religion of the Light and Sound of God".

I think it was founded in Las Vegas in 1965.

I think it's name comes from a word in Sikhism "Ek Onkaar", which I think means "one god".

A goal of Eckists is to work off karma and achieve Self-Realization and God-realization in this lifetime. The stated goal on the back of every membership card reads: "The aim and purpose of Eckankar has always been to take Soul by Its own path back to its divine source."

That I guess is just a beginning description. Got most of it from wiped.DOA
