Eckankar is ancient wisdom for today. Its teachings, which resurfaced in 1965, emphasize the value of personal experiences as the most natural way back to God. Whatever your religious background, they show how to look and listen within yourself?to expand your consciousness and enjoy spiritual freedom. See, perhaps for the first time, how to lead a happy, balanced, and productive life and put daily concerns into loving perspective.

Eckankar teaches simple spiritual exercises to experience the Light and Sound of God. These exercises also help us Soul Travel, to move into greater states of consciousness. A spiritual exercise can be as simple as relaxing and singing the word HU, an ancient name for God. As we practice these spiritual exercises, we learn to recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We learn that each of us is Soul, a spark of God sent to this world to gain spiritual experience. And as we unfold spiritually, we learn to express the love of God through service to others.

*Soul is eternal and is the individuals true identity.
*Soul exists because God loves It.
*Soul is on a journey of Self- and God-Realization.
*Spiritual involvement can be accelerated through conscious contact with the ECK, Divine Spirit.
*This contact can be made via the Spiritual Exercises of ECK and the guidance of the Living ECK Master.
*The Mahanta, the Living ECK Master is the spiritual leader of Eckankar.
*Spiritual experience and liberation in this lifetime are available to all.
*You can actively explore the spiritual worlds through Soul Travel, dreams, and other spiritual techniques.

sounds interesting actually

I've read about it. They call it "The Ancient Science of Soul Travel". It's a recently made up religion allegedly inspired by Scientology and just as silly. Their literature talks about wars between aliens on other planets.

The have a web site if you're interested.

Eckankar, Religion of the Light and Sound of God emphasizes the value of personal experiences as the most natural way back to God. The current spiritual leader of Eckankar (since October 1981) is Harold Klemp. They are generally regarded as a new religious movement begun in 1965, but it is their opinion that they are a sort of "Perennial Philosophy", with ancient origins. However, extensive research by current and ex-members have never been able to substantiate any ancient origins. Klemp has done much to distance himself and the movement from the original books and philosophy of Paul Twitchell, the late founder. Many suspect that this is due to the extensive plagiarism from other works that Paul Twitchell employed when he created Eckankar. Most of the material that Paul Twitchell wrote has been withdrawn, and all of the material from Darwin Gross who was overthrown as leader by Harold Klemp has been removed.

It's absolutely true and you should join it immediately.

Or, it's a new age religion which, as a result of being made up by educated people instead of primitive people, makes more sense in some things but has a bit too much 60's tone in others.

Or, same old, same old. Like Christianity (and most other religions) it's a way that you can be saved as long as you follow the people at the top. My advice would be to save yourself.
