The path of ECKANKAR is the path of the INDIVIDUAL. It has been called "the easy way", but in truth there is nothing easy about facing one?s own karma. What ECKANKAR does is put one in touch with the ECK (or Life Stream, or Word, or Path to God). Individuals must walk their own path. What sets ECKANKAR apart from other religions or spiritual paths is the Living ECK Master and the apprentice process that guides consciousness to what is called the Mahanta, which one could think of as a bridge to God.
When coming into awareness of ECKANKAR we react from where we are. The hardest lesson to learn is to love oneself enough to recognize that we are Soul using a body, not a body trying to build a soul. God is, and Soul exists because of God's love for it. Everything that exists is made up of this soul-stuff. As awareness grows it becomes more individualized and better able to be a conduit for God's love.
If one has a strong reaction to ECKANKAR, be it positive or negative, it indicates a connection to be honored, for it is a reminder of the inner realities. Sing HU to open your heart (sit or lie in a quiet space, breathe deeply and sound "HUUUUUUUUU" gently on the out-breath. Place the attention gently on the 3rd eye area, the door to the imagination. As thoughts come up, recognise them, thank them and move back to HU. Know that you are in the circle of God's love as you sing HU) for about 15 minutes. Write down any experiences you have. Keep a contemplation journal. Share your experiences with your journal only, until you have firm footing of confidence in your experiences. As we know, the inner reality scares many. They will try and dissuade you from recognising your own truth. They will need to find their own path in their own time.
May the Blessings Be.
