The religion of Eckankar?

Is anybody on here a member of Eckankar? Is Harold Klemp claiming to be a messiah? Why do you have to pay to become a member?
I love the beliefs, but these two things are scary.
It was (re)introduced as a belief system in 1965. The beliefs are ancient.

The purpose of Eckankar is to make God an everyday reality in your life.
As Soul, you have the God-knowledge within you. The teachings of ECK will awaken the knowledge and love for the divine things that are already in your heart.
The road to God is the adventure of a lifetime.

yep, just a new auger. you can get the same info for free from any search on metaphysics, etc. its not bad info but whats the point in joining a religion for it?

You have to pay for the services they offer - introductory books, discourses, other benefits. I now people who are following Eckankar without being members.
