In Gnosticism is Jehovah their God or not?

I read that in gnosticism they believe that Jehovah or the god from genesis cursed mankind to be trapped in the physical world. Is this true? Or is the God's name Yahweh? which god is which? Which deities does Gnostic's work with in present time? what do they believe?

Any help will be appreciated?

there are plenty of god's name ALLAH, JEHOVAH, GOD, YAHWEH etc..... i, a gnostic worship and believe in god the one god that's everybody is worshiping, just, in very different ways

well there are many different Gnostic paths, each one would be telling a different story. Kinda like how there's many sects of Chrsitianity. Each Gnostic tradition seems to have its own beliefs, meaning each one may even be said to be a different religion all together, insightfulLyiled into the term Gnostic!

Many traditions do believe what you have described though, that Jehovah is a lesser god or demon who reigns over the lower worlds. The Gnostic god being a Good Spirit which dwells in the higher worlds that are pure and everlasting. Gnosticism usually refers to the belief that all our souls are a part of God's eternal Soul, and coming to understand everything is part of the Spirit of God awakens us, elevates our selves to who we really are. However there are some traditions that teach different things, but they did not seem to survive the onslaught of christian persecution unfortunately..

The name "Jehovah" is a later European derivative of the original Hebrew name "YHWH." Both names refer to the same God, or "god", as the Gnostics would write it.

Gnostics believe that Jehovah is the Creator and Ruler of this lower, fallen world that is filled with corruption and evil. Gnostics reject the proposition in Judeo-Christian orthodoxy that this world can be the product of a supreme Being. Gnostics maintain that this world is evil because Jehovah's nature is evil, and not because of something that happened between a naked woman and a talking snake somewhere.

Jehovah himself admits in Isaiah 45:5-7, "I am the Lord (YHWH),...there is no God besides me... I form the light and create darkness, and make peace and create evil. I, the Lord, do all these things."

Gnostics believe that spiritually enlightened people can have spiritual communion, or "nosies", with the supreme "Good" God; whereas all other people must submit to the heavy hand of Jehovah, who rules this evil world.

Gnostics believe that Jehovah's world is doomed, and that they will spend eternity with the Good Father.
