Yes, I drive my mentor nuts with all my questions. If she can't answer the questions to my satisfaction and I can't find it on my own, I discard the information and use something that works for me. Its usually just something about the symbolism anyhow so if it doesn't hold a meaning to me it is worthless in ritual.

No, Gnosticism, including Christo-gnosticism, is incompatible with Trinitarian Christian theology, cosmology and anthropology

Shalama,

Gnosticism is my religion, so I need not to copy and paste its elements into another religion.

I am not really sure. I have not really studied gnostic theory to know if I apply any aspect of it. However, as I believe there was one religion when the first man came into being - however that was - a Supreme being enlightened him on who He was and what he would do. From what little I have read it seems like that is nosies. So when man began they had knowledge of the truth and then it went down hill from there. God trying to keep at least some of the people gnostic of his will while everyone else refuse Him or His truth.

Totally and I am glad there is somebody out there willing to rise above Christian Spiritual Fascism and treat this subject with the gravitas it deserves.
Christian/Churchian Spiritual Fascism is exactly what is happening right now today.Because a book was compiled at Nicaea by a bunch of men on the instigation of a Roman Emperor this form of fascism has been around since then, and who were the first victims of this fascism?Gnostic Christians were,Why?Because their beliefs based on their writings and philosophy were anti-materialist,humane,anti-establishment and place the onus on the individual to find the spark of divinity within themselves without a priest, pope or apparatus called the church. The Gnostic's also denied the creation myth and the fall of humanity, the Crucifixion and death of Christ. Some even believed that Christ and Yehoshua were 2 separate spirits and that is why on the cross Jesus cried"Eloi Eloi lama scathing"My God My God why have you forsaken me although the proper literal translation based on Aramiac is"My power My power why have you forsaken or left me"The Gnostics also deny the trinity. They prayed to the Holy Father,Holy Mother and the Holy Son and the Holy Spirit who in Gnostic cosmology are Christ and Sophia/wisdom which are within you and when you reach nosies there is a transformation spiritually. The Masculine/Feminine aspects of the spirit unite and your inner self becomes at one with you.It has worked for me because for years after seeing evil and death at close hand I too needed answers and like a lot of Atheists there was a deep anger and hatred at the Churches within Christianity for their hypocrisy and their cop out in the face of secular materialism in the world which has caused so much pain.I cannot judge another form of belief like Islam however even within Islam there is a form of Gnosticism called Sufism and the Sufi's too suffered under the mainstream of that religion.I realised that truth cannot be hijacked by any religion solely for the purpose to deny truth to another soul who follows a different path.A lot of orthodox Christians batter people verbally here because it is their opinion and their churches that they have access to the truth and everyone else is condemned. That is wrong, utterly and entirely. If you are looking at this from a spiritual point of view then go first to the Gospel of Thomas. There are very good sites who have translations of all the Gnostic Gospels. As for Paganism.Christianity is an amalgamation of pagan festivals and days. The sad fact of the matter is the library at Alexandria was sacked and burned on the orders of the Pope ,then the actual books were removed to the vaults of the vatican where to this day they remain under lock and key. Why?They contain real spiritual truth and please do not go down the road of the Da Vinci code.In a round about way that book acted as a catalyst and popularized this theory of Christs blood still within the human biological matrix but that is not the issue.Read these Gospels and discover and do not allow anyone to tell you you are a sinner or a heretic.Judge not lest you be judged yourself.

not at all. i don't subscribe to most of the core beliefs of gnosticism, especially its view of our relationship to the divine or that there is such a thing as a conscious creator-god.

the term 'gnostic' could be applied to my beliefs, tho. i believe the universe awoke unknowing and all of this is its way of learning; therefore, the pursuit of knowledge is paramount in my belief system. gnostic theology seems to take things in the opposite direction.

Yes, I find Sophian Gnosticism to beautifully complement my leanings towards a more feminine-centric spirituality (while not denying or denigrating the role of the male - they must ultimately be in balance, but considering the feminine has been repressed for SO long in the West, a little goddess-centric spirituality goes a long way to restoring order especially within the psyche), and my penchant for mindfulness and other more methods of contemplation that you normally only find in Eastern traditions.

Sophian Gnosticism utilizes the Qabalah quite a lot, and that complements my own Hermetic studies. They also look towards the Eastern goddess traditions for perspective on the ideals and energies behind Sophia, Shekinah, Mary Magdalene, etc - and I find that very attractive as I draw a great deal of inspiration from the Shakta tradition of Hinduism.

I also find it particularly refreshing to study and experience the presence of the vital and active feminine energies in the Western Judeo-Christian traditions, as they've been so ignored for so long in favor of the strictly patriarchal structure. It feels like a reclaiming and a homecoming of sorts.

Plus, the emphasis on your own personal and intuitive experience of the divine just makes WAY more sense than any tradition that wants to feed you a book and an interpretation as-is.

So. YES! I do indeed!

I am Celtic Pagan, So the extent of Gnosticism plays a low roll in my path. I have been taught from a young age of my ancestors and the beliefs they hold. I am curious of other beliefs and how they are similar to mine though!

I believe that "religion" has no place in "war". It is a personal and spiritual preference and the two should not be in the same sentence! My (ancestral) homeland of Ireland has been war-torn for centuries..over religion. I truly believe that mankind can rise over this diversity in belief, and accept the wonder of diversity!
