One truth, many paths.

Love on another, do onto other as you would have them do onto you.

Yes. Because both beliefs go for a direct experience of 'God'.

Buddhism, while spiritual in its core belief, is still humanistic. Humanism is its main point. While the Gnostics which started in Egypt still dealt with spiritualism in regards to (a) God. So if there's any similarities, I'd say it's thin. Buddhism is self-enlightenment, whilst Gnosticism deals with a relationship with (a) God, and in that way fulfills ones enlightenment.

That depends on your views.

Everyone interprets things differently. For example if you read about Buddhism from works published in western cultures during the 1700's or 1800's you will get a very different idea about the subject then you will if you read books published today.

It is all about perspective.

I suggest that you pick up some books on the subjects and read them. I also suggest that you read early texts on both religions as opposed to reading just currently published data. The perspective is far different in most cases and learning about things from various perspectives will generally result in a broader education on a subject.

I don't know much about the Gnosticism. Buddhism do not contradict with any other systems including science and logic. It is a view transcending all other views. It says all beings are Buddha. This means all beings have the potential to be peaceful like Buddha and if it is not than do not believe Buddha (who delivered the teachings). Buddhism freed man from the bound age of the God.

If Gnosticism talks about tolerance but yet give the God final position to rule the universe than Buddhism and Gnosticism aren't the same.

yes Gnosticism is essentially Christian Buddhism.

Buddhism:

all is illusion. Suffering is caused by attachment to the physical. May all be free from attachment.

Gnosticism:

you are asleep and have forgotten your true self, you cannot see things as they really are. You live in pain as you value your body too much. Awaken to who you are and realize you are Christ.

There is no path that leads to Zen.

How can you follow a path to where you are right now?

?Robert Allen

It is I who am you: and it is you who are me,
And wherever you are, I am there.
And I am sown in all; and you collect me from wherever you wish.
And when you collect me, it is your own self that you collect
