Default How compatible are Gnosticism and Atheism?

Shalama and Blessings,

"How compatible are Gnosticism and Atheism"?

Please, if you wish to answer this question keep in mind the following:

1) Provide evidence for your opinion, assertion or view. Only do so if you want to prove an assertion etc.
2) If they are compatible then please give as many points as to why.
3) If they are not compatible then please give as many points as to why not.
4) Either way if you have experiences of how compatible or non compatible then I would cherish your contributions. Positive or negative, the doors are open.

Before you answer, yes I do have a working knowledge of Atheism and Athiests, and yes I do have a working knowledge of Gnosticism and Gnostics, so please be specific.

You do not have to be a scholar to notice that some forms of Gnosticism do not have a positive view on Atheism, especially one that sees it as a form of Nihilism and that Atheism although is very productive is void of true spiritualism. Fro, the O.N.E.

Atheism, by definition, is the lack of belief in the existence of deity. Most definitions of Gnosticism I've seen bring deity into the picture, which would seem to make the two incompatible. But it is possible to believe in certain other things, metaphysical or philosophical, without actually believing in deity.

Anybody who wants to be compatible can be compatible. It's a choice. How compatible they are - depends on who they are - and how compatible they want to be.

We are talking about individuals here. It's not usually a good idea to group people and generalize about them. I believe that things work best if people are treated as individuals with their own thoughts and choices.

Namaste!
