Default I've chosen to convert to Christian Gnosticism because it respects women more?

As you may recall, several years ago, The Da Vinci Code became a hugely-successful book because it explored several theories involving conspiracies within the Church, including the possibility that Jesus somehow survived the crucifixion and escaped with Mary Magdalene. The book was highly praised by several feminist groups because it explored the theory that Christian Gnosticism was suppressed by the Catholic Church because it gave equal respect to men and women.

In light of this, I've decided to convert to Christian Gnosticism, as I can no longer tolerate the oppression of women. I've been reading up on Gnosticism for a while now, and many of its teachings really make a lot of sense to me. For instance, consider the following passage from The Gospel of Thomas, a Gnostic text that was suppressed and excluded from The Bible by male, patriarchal Church leaders:

'Simon Peter said to them, ?Let Mary leave us, for women are not worthy of life.? Jesus said, ?I myself shall lead her in order to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every woman who will make herself male will enter the kingdom of heaven.?' (Thomas 114)
You caught me, Cricket. Can you believe how many people took this question seriously just because they didn't feel like reading three little paragraphs? People need to learn to read the entire question.

I don't really know about Christian Gnosticism, but if your open to converting to anything, you should convert to Islam. People believe that they suppress their women, but they don't women have rights and they can choose to wear the head scarf. Islam is also about equal rights between a man and a woman. I know this because i am one.

So if ET gets remade you'll convert to the Church of Scientology? Your not the cleverest person it seems and too easily lead.

Maybe try and make a life for yourself and understand why women in some places are the way they are and do the right thing.

Oh and The Da Vinci Code was a work of fiction based on an assumption by the guys that wrote holy blood holy grail that Mary was a lot more central than the church wanted her to be. They cut her out to make the religion more masculine so appealing to the kings and rulers in the Roman empire and beyond.

The theory of itself isn't well pr oven either so you probably converted for nothing more than a rumor. Don't follow blindly

Wait, you're converting to Gnosticism from Christianity because it "respects women more" despite the fact that the misogynistic gospel of Thomas is part of Gnosticism but not part of Christianity? And you're doing this based on a work of fiction by a hack writer?

You sound like you need to convert to Buddhism. In Buddhism the worst punishment for bad deeds is being reincarnated as a woman.

A respectful opinion....this is your first "anti-indoctrination" event. Coming to terms that what you feel in your heart does not mesh with what your religion says, or what the "bible" says.

I'd go further in your beliefs if you can...in my opinion Agnosticism is far more viable. People cannot know the nature of "God", and there isn't enough evidence of JC to convince me of his existence....besides, why would "He" allow so many abominations to be carried out in his name? "God" is a mystical presence that no one can name or define...it's a universal truth that can't be explained through stories.

To me, ANY religion that claims to be the "way" or the only "true" one is automatically false. The God I know wouldn't exclude anyone, regardless of circumstances.
