of course. being a REAL christian, not these posers who claim to be Christians, one is really involved in trying to lift their consciousness into another realm.
Most of the poser Christians, the George W. Bush's, the red states, the bible bangers, the televangelists who CLAIM to be christian, they're all about RULES. it's all bullshit. Jesus would vomit those assholes from his mouth.
a real christian is also a bud dist, a gnostic, a Sufi, whatever.
I don't *practice* any other religion, but unlike many Christians I'm not afraid of other religious ideologies. I believe truth transcends all labels. The Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, and pagans have gotten quite a bit right, and to the extent that they did I have no qualms against embracing such.
For some reason, it really bothers quite a few of my devoutly Christian friends that the Bhagavad Gita, the Qur'an, excerpts from the Pali Canon, and the Book of Mormon sit prominently on my bookshelf.
Besides the Bible, I've read just about everything... The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (JW), the Book of Mormon, Holy Blood Holy Grail by Baigent Leigh & Lincoln, The Quran, Darwin's Descent of Man, History of Freemasonry by Albert Pike, the Aquarian Conspiracy by Marilyn Ferguson, Confucious, Life & Teaching of the Masters of the Far East by Spalding, etc......
I am pleasantly surprised to see someone other than me posting something about Gnosticism. Great question!
I would say the answer is: No.
By definition, to be a "Christian" means that you fully accept the tenets and dogma of "Christianity" and totally reject all other belief systems as being the "work of the devil".
Most of the "Christians" I've ever known are scared to death of anything pagan and would reject out of hand anything else.
I am a Gnostic even though my dad was a Southern Baptist minister. My mom was a minister as well, but of the Church of Religious Science. I have been studying metaphysics and spirituality for most of my life and am glad for it.
I think all "Christians" should do the same. It would really open a lot of eyes, to be sure.
I'm an atheist that considers the bible a mystical collection of metaphysical, astrological, alchemical, shamanic myths. I like it myself, but I don't read it anything like what the Xians do. The fact of the matter is they don't have the knowledge to understand their mythology. It's like trying to explain what's outside the cave to the people that have never been out of the cave.
I had been baptized catholic and now practice paganism. My family was a little upset at first. But they grew to it. If you have any other questions you may contact me
A Christian is someone who believed Jesus Christ existed and that He was the son of God with a message of Love and forgiveness. In that context, the answer is yes.My belief...Jesus Christ was sent down to remind us of the knowledge that was given to man at the time of Adam and Eve because we had forgotten a lot of it...A lot of the "religions and spiritual belief systems have pieces of the original teachings so everything is all ready connected it is up to the individual to open their hearts, eyes, ears and use their own minds to discern the truth...
I believe in God, but also have studied Buddhism, Hinduism, and the
Tao.
My point of few of Buddhism: it teaches you to take responsibility of your life. Any bad thing that happens to you you ask yourself what did I do, or what could I have done differently that could have made the out come better. Was I late? was I insensitive? Was I disrespectful? Was I rude? Was I not patient enough? Could I have been more considerate? Did I do my share of the work?
Hinduism: Be thankful for what you have. Pass on good fortune. If someone does you a good deed, then help someone else. Someone pays for your toll, let someone cut in front of you at a check out counter that only has a few items, when you have 20. Do something nice for 3 people when someone goes out of there way to help you.
Or just go out of your way to help someone else.
Toa: When you make a mistake understand everyone makes mistakes, so you must forgive 5 others who make a mistake, against you. If you cut someone off in traffic, then you must now forgive 5 people who cut you off in traffic. Meaning not only do not do something bad, but you must not get mad at someone who cuts you off. it is hard to do.
