Gnosticism twists the truths about God. Agnosticism is insecurity of a God.

The Gree word nosies means, literally, knowledge. The ancient Gnostic's, practitioners of gnosticism, deemed secret knowledge to be necessary for salvation.

Agnostic is used to describe a person who is without knowledge, i.e., A-gnostic.

The two terms are similar but one is unrelated to the other.

An "A."

And what an important A. Agnostics don't ('a') know. (nosies) i.e., they don't know if God (Goddess, or gods) exists. Gnosticism is a religious sect where knowledge (nosies) is found through meditation and direct understanding (nosies) of the divine. It was developed in Neoplatonic Greece and Egypt. (i.e. the scholars at the famed Library at Alexandria)

Gnostism is having the God ability in you and denying Jesus being a son of God...correct me if I am wrong. This came around when the Jews where converting to Christianity and was considered a cult. Denying Jesus divinity.
agnosticism is believing their is no God but something out there.

Gnosticism (capital G) was a religious movement. But philosophically, a gnostic (from the Greek word for knowledge) is someone who claims to have knowledge about god, either that god exists or does not exist. An agnostic (a- without and gnosticism/knowledge) is someone who doesn't *know* whether god exists or not.

Gnosticism also refers to a particular set of beliefs about God, basically that the god of the old testament and the god of the new testament are separate, non-aligned entities.

Agnostic describes a person who doesn't accept ideas or perspectives as the truth. An Agnostic won't even trust his own opinions, or anybody Else's. Agnostics don't commit to any ideas or notions, leading some to wrongly suggest they don't believe.

Belief itself originally meant ''to love'', as Be-lief came from Ga-Lauben, the Germanic phrase meaning ''dear, esteemed''. Belief therefore does not mean ''to accept an idea as true'', although it is commonly used to mean that by most people.

A Gnostic is someone who adheres to the notion that the truth can be understood thought the study of knowledge/ideas. Essentially it is someone who is partial to particular viewpoints. A Gnostic for instance might be an Atheist (strictly according to Greek meaning), as Atheists hold to views and opinions.

Essentially the difference lies in the interpretation of knowledge. The original meaning of ''know'' means ''to see'', as in to perceive. Yet any perception of something does not simply come from the senses, but also from comparison to ones memories. For instance: an artist will see a sphere and perceive an ellipse for the purpose of drawing it. Also if you look at an object with infrared camera, the co lour with change. So the view of something isn't the whole thing.

In modern times the meaning of the Greek word Gnostic has been warped by association to describe an umbrella of different religious sects spanning the 1st 4 centuries AD that were in competition with Roman supported orthodox Christianity. The modern inspiration for a re-emergence of these religious sects arose due to the discovery of the Nag Hammadi library, discovered in Egypt.

The use of the term Gnostic to describe religious cults (not all of them Christian such as the man deans etc) has warped the meaning of Agnostic to give the impression that an Agnostic is an Atheist, or someone who isn't sure if there is a God. An Agnostic however would not accept a fence sitting ideology, as ideologies are the domain of Gnostics. Agnostics see truth as greater than or above ideas.

I am not going to give you two definitions. Instead I will try to give you my vision of the two words:

Gnosticism: The quest for the truth being a believer.

Agnosticism: The lack of courage to call himself atheist.

Beforehand I apologies if I offend you or someone who reads this.
