Default Is claiming the inspiration of the Holy Spirit just another form of gnosticism?

When people claim the presence and influence of the Holy Spirit is this not the same as claiming to have some "secret" knowledge and access to a power available to only the select few? Is this not just Gnosticism reinvented in order to use power and control over others?

I don't see how. We don't actually have "secret" knowledge, but the Holy Spirit does help us understand things of God. It has nothing to do with power and control over others.

Gnosticism came AFTER Christianity.
Gnosticism incorporates some of the teachings
of Christianity, along with pagan teachings.
Today, we might call-it New Age,
or "the emergent church"
or a host of other false cults.

No. The "access" is available to any believer.

John 20:22
And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:2
until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.

Acts 2:4
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Acts 2:38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 4:31
After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Acts 5:32
We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

Acts 8:14-19
14When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. 15When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into[c] the name of the Lord Jesus. 17Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Acts 9:31
Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace. It was strengthened; and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it grew in numbers, living in the fear of the Lord.

Acts 10:44
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.

Etcetera. Hardly exclusive.

When you say that the Holy Spirit reveals a scripture and it's meaning trust me when I say you have NO power other than the power the Holy spirit gives you in that case!

What you said really makes me laugh in light of the outright heckling and skepticism toward the things of God in this world right now. People who just "talk the talk" have no power and cannot control anyone!

People who claim to hear from the Lord and who are not followed with signs and wonders lose their voice very quickly in this world. Truth is there are many who are followed with the power of the Holy Spirit and that is why they have credibility with those who are in their company. Have you ever sat in a church anointed by the presence of the Holy Spirit? have you seen any miracles? Maybe you should pursue that and find out for yourself what can or can't happen.

What?
The Holy Spirit has no "secrets." It avails itself in the Holy Bible to everyone who wishes to know the God of the Bible. Actually, God is inside of each and everyone of us. At least a part of HIM is. You are free to deny it as you wish. That is what separates the Believers from the Non-believers.
I'm not quite sure what "Powers" you are referencing? And as for "control over others???? I think you've been severely disillusioned.
